CBSE Extends Deadline for Class 12 Scanned Answer Sheets to May 25

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for students to request scanned copies of their evaluated Class 12 answer sheets by one day. This decision comes in response to multiple technical issues reported on the official portal. Students now have until 11:59 PM on May 25 to submit their applications, instead of the previously announced May 24 cutoff.

Technical Glitches Prompt Extension

Several candidates encountered significant problems while attempting to apply for scanned copies of their answer scripts. The most common issues included payment failures despite successful transactions, unexpected page crashes, and the website repeatedly failing to move beyond the “Preview & Confirmation” step. Some students also reported being charged incorrect amounts—either more or less than the prescribed fee—due to system errors.

Portal Issues Since May 19

According to student reports, these technical difficulties began surfacing as soon as the application window opened on May 19. The high volume of simultaneous traffic overwhelmed the system, leading to frequent downtime and incomplete application submissions. Many candidates expressed frustration over not receiving confirmation despite their payments going through successfully.

Re-evaluation Window to Open Soon

CBSE has confirmed that the application process for re-evaluation will be announced shortly. The board has assured students that once scanned copies are made available, the re-evaluation portal will remain open for at least two days. Candidates wishing to review their evaluated answer sheets must apply within the designated timeframe. Officials have advised students not to wait until the last moment to complete their applications.

Refund Policy for Incorrect Fee Deductions

Addressing concerns about erroneous charges, CBSE has outlined a clear refund mechanism. Students who were overcharged will receive the excess amount back through the same payment method used originally, whether UPI, credit card, or another mode. For those who were undercharged, separate instructions will be issued to complete the remaining payment. Importantly, all affected students will still receive their scanned answer sheets without needing to submit a fresh application.

Significant Fee Reductions Announced

This year, CBSE has introduced substantial fee cuts across several services. The cost of obtaining a scanned copy of an answer sheet has been reduced from ₹700 to just ₹100. Similarly, the fee for answer sheet verification has dropped from ₹500 to ₹100. For re-evaluation requests, students will be charged ₹25 per question.

Breakdown of Revised Fees

  • Scanned copy of answer sheet: ₹100 (previously ₹700)
  • Answer sheet verification: ₹100 (previously ₹500)
  • Re-evaluation: ₹25 per question

Official Statement from CBSE

In an official release, CBSE reassured students and parents that there is no cause for panic. The board stated that all genuine complaints related to scanned copies, evaluation, or re-evaluation will be thoroughly examined by subject experts following established procedures.

CBSE also acknowledged that the heavy influx of applications in a short span created excessive server load, which triggered the technical disruptions. The board has been actively strengthening its systems and implementing corrective measures to resolve these issues on an ongoing basis.

Students are encouraged to monitor official CBSE communications for further updates regarding the re-evaluation schedule and any additional instructions related to the application process.
