CBSE Extends Deadline for Class 12 Answer Sheet Photocopies

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has once again extended the deadline for Class 12 students to request scanned copies of their answer sheets. Students now have until May 24 to submit their applications, giving them additional time to access this important facility.

The decision comes after the board’s official portal experienced significant technical difficulties over the past several days. Heavy simultaneous traffic, coupled with unauthorized access attempts, had made it difficult for students to complete their requests smoothly. By pushing the deadline further, CBSE aims to ensure that no student misses out on obtaining their answer sheet copies due to these system issues.

What Happens After Receiving the Scanned Copy

Once students receive their scanned answer sheets, they will have a narrow window of just two days to apply for the next stage of the process. This includes requesting verification of marks or filing for re-evaluation. The board has advised students to make the most of the extended timeline and submit their applications promptly to avoid any last-minute complications.

All previously announced terms and conditions remain unchanged. The board has not altered any rules related to eligibility, application procedures, or the overall evaluation process.

Revised Fee Structure Offers Significant Relief

This year, CBSE has introduced a substantially reduced fee structure, making the process far more affordable for students. The cost of obtaining a scanned copy of the answer sheet has been reduced from ₹700 to just ₹100. Similarly, the fee for answer sheet verification has dropped from ₹500 to ₹100. For those seeking re-evaluation, a nominal fee of ₹25 per question will apply.

Step-by-Step Process to Obtain Scanned Copies

The application process follows a clear, structured sequence that students need to complete carefully:

  • The first step involves submitting a formal request for the scanned copy of the evaluated answer sheet.
  • Fees and schedules for Class 12 have been predetermined and published by the board.
  • Students must submit their applications online themselves. The board has strongly advised against using cyber cafes or seeking assistance from third parties to complete the process.
  • Once processed, the scanned copy will be made available on the student’s personal login ID, from where it can be downloaded directly.
  • Copies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning earlier applicants will receive their documents sooner.
  • Students may apply for one or multiple subjects, but all applications must be submitted in a single session.
  • If a student remains unsatisfied with their marks after reviewing the scanned copy, they can proceed to apply for verification or re-evaluation.

The extension reflects CBSE’s commitment to maintaining a fair and accessible system for all students. By addressing the technical hurdles that hindered the portal’s performance, the board hopes to facilitate a smoother experience for everyone involved. Students are encouraged to monitor official communications and complete their applications well before the new deadline to ensure their requests are processed without delay.
