The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a mandatory mass mock evaluation session scheduled for February 26, 2026, under its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. A formal notice was issued on February 24, 2026, directing all affiliated school principals to ensure full participation from their teaching staff.
This practice exercise is designed to familiarize educators with the digital assessment framework before the actual evaluation cycle begins. The board has emphasized that this session is a crucial step in transitioning to a more streamlined, technology-driven marking process.
Purpose Behind the Mass Mock Evaluation
The mock session is intended to provide teachers with hands-on experience in using the digital evaluation platform. CBSE has outlined several key objectives for this exercise:
- To verify that all teachers can successfully log in and have secure access to their credentials for the upcoming real evaluations.
- To give educators direct exposure to the digital marking interface and its various tools.
- To collect feedback from evaluators across affiliated schools in India and abroad, which will be used to further refine the platform’s functionality.
Based on suggestions received from previous interactions, the board has already implemented several modifications to the digital evaluation system. These updates are aimed at making the platform more responsive, intuitive, and user-friendly for all participants.
New Features on the Principal Dashboard
The official notice also highlights enhancements made to the principal dashboard, offering greater control and oversight capabilities. Key additions include:
- A correction facility to rectify inaccurate teacher data recorded on the OASIS portal, ensuring educators receive correct login credentials.
- A comprehensive monitoring dashboard that allows principals to track how many teachers have logged into the OSM system and how many answer books have been evaluated.
- A direct messaging feature enabling principals to send login credentials to teachers straight from the dashboard, simplifying the distribution process.
Schedule and Timings for the Mock Evaluation
The mass mock evaluation will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026. To accommodate the large number of participants, the session has been divided into multiple time slots based on geographical regions. The complete schedule is as follows:
- Prayagraj, Trivandrum, Dehradun, Vijayawada: 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM
- Noida, Patna, Lucknow, Raipur: 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM
- Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh (Ludhiana), Delhi-East (including foreign schools): 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM
- Ajmer, Pune, Guwahati, Panchkula: 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM
- Ahmedabad, Ranchi, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai: 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM
- Delhi-West, Gurugram: 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM
CBSE has also noted that examinations for approximately 2.92 lakh students are scheduled worldwide on February 26, 2026. The timing of the mock evaluation has been carefully planned to avoid any overlap with the start and end times of these exams, ensuring that the practice session does not disrupt the examination schedule.
Instructions for Teachers
Clear guidelines have been issued for all participating teachers. Adherence to these instructions is mandatory for the successful completion of the exercise:
- Teachers must log in from their respective schools during the designated time slot. Attempting to log in from home will not work, as the system is configured to function only from school premises.
- All Class 11 and 12 teachers are required to log in and evaluate at least one answer book during the session.
- In the event of any technical difficulties or other issues during the mock test, teachers must immediately report the problem to their school principal.
- Principals are responsible for compiling all reported issues and forwarding them to the board for resolution.
Principals have been directed to confirm that every eligible teacher in their institution participates in this mandatory exercise.
