CBSE Defends OSM System, Calls Digital Evaluation Platform Fully Secure
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has moved to reassure students and parents amid growing controversy over its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. In an official statement released Thursday, the board insisted that its digital evaluation infrastructure is completely secure and built on a robust IT framework, with no reported instances of security breaches or technical vulnerabilities in the actual assessment portal.
Board Addresses Security Concerns Around Digital Answer Sheet Evaluation
Taking to the social media platform X, CBSE confirmed that the OSM platform has undergone rigorous authorized security audits and received proper certification. The board emphasized that the scanning and processing of answer sheets are supported by a strong digital infrastructure, incorporating multiple layers of quality control and protective measures designed to safeguard the integrity of the evaluation process.
Answer Sheets Safe and Processed Under Strict Quality Protocols
Addressing students directly, CBSE stated that all answer sheets remain fully secure and have been processed through multiple quality assurance procedures. The board acknowledged that student concerns are being taken seriously and are receiving proper attention at the highest levels.
This clarification comes at a time when allegations regarding the digital evaluation of Class 12 board examination answer sheets for 2026 have intensified. The controversy centers on contractual arrangements for the OSM system and claims of irregularities within the platform. Social media has been abuzz with various assertions questioning both the security of the system and the fairness of the marking process.
24×7 Post-Result Support Helpline Launched for Students
In a proactive move to assist students during this period, CBSE has introduced a comprehensive 24×7 post-result support system designed to provide guidance at every stage. The board has activated a dedicated toll-free helpline number, 1800-11-8004, to address queries related to evaluation and offer stress management support. This service is currently fully operational.

Political Scrutiny Intensifies Amid Allegations of Past Irregularities
The controversy gained political traction when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded an independent judicial inquiry and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the matter. Gandhi alleged that COEMPT Edutech, the company contracted by CBSE for the OSM process, previously operated under the name Globarena and had been involved in controversies in Telangana.
According to Gandhi’s claims, OSM-related discrepancies in Telangana during 2019 and 2023 resulted in disadvantages for students. He further expressed concern that the atmosphere surrounding CBSE examinations has created significant stress among students and parents, while the government has remained silent on the issue.
CBSE Dismisses Allegations as Baseless and Misleading
In response to these accusations, CBSE categorically rejected all claims made by Rahul Gandhi, labeling them as misleading and devoid of factual basis. The board clarified that the entire contracting process was conducted in strict compliance with financial regulations and the General Financial Rules.
CBSE provided additional context regarding the procurement timeline, stating that a Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued on the Central Public Procurement Portal on August 28, 2025, for the digital evaluation of answer sheets for the 2026 board examinations. The contract was subsequently awarded to the eligible bidder following the established transparent bidding process.
The board’s detailed rebuttal aims to put to rest any doubts about the legitimacy of the OSM system and the procurement procedures followed, while reinforcing its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of examination integrity and student welfare.
