Delhi Government Schools Open Non-Plan Admissions for Classes 6–9

The Directorate of Education has announced that non-plan category admissions for Classes 6 through 9 in Delhi government schools will commence on April 1 for the 2026–27 academic session. This admission window is designed specifically for students residing in Delhi whose education has been disrupted due to circumstances such as parental job transfers, as well as those who were enrolled in private schools up to their most recent academic year.

Three-Phase Online Registration Schedule

According to the official circular, the entire admission process will be conducted through an online registration system divided into three distinct phases. The first phase opens on April 1 at 12:00 noon and remains active until April 7 at 5:00 PM. The subsequent phases are scheduled from April 30 to May 25, and from July 1 to July 25 respectively.

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

Students who have successfully passed their previous grade can complete their registration online. Meanwhile, out-of-school children between the ages of 10 and 14 may visit their nearest government school to register in person. These children will undergo a basic assessment of literacy and mathematical skills, and based on the results, they will be placed in an appropriate class level.

The Directorate has also clarified the age requirements: children seeking admission to Classes 6 through 9 must be between 10 and 15 years of age as of March 31, 2026. In special circumstances, school authorities may grant age relaxation at their discretion. To address any admission-related queries, a centralized helpline has been established, and schools will also operate help desks to resolve concerns at the local level.

Key Dates for School Allocation and Document Verification

For the first phase, school allocation results will be announced on April 21, followed by document verification from April 22 to April 30. Similar timelines have been set for the second and third phases, with the complete admission process concluding by August 31.

Application Guidelines for Parents and Students

Parents seeking admission for their children into Delhi government schools can submit applications through the online registration portal. However, students already enrolled in government or government-aided institutions who wish to transfer or seek re-admission must contact their current school directly to initiate the process.

The non-plan admission category serves as an important pathway for students facing transitional challenges in their academic journey. By offering multiple phases and a structured online system, the education department aims to ensure that eligible students receive uninterrupted schooling despite previous disruptions. The inclusion of offline registration options for out-of-school children further broadens access, making the process inclusive for families from diverse backgrounds.

Authorities encourage applicants to keep all necessary documents ready and adhere to the specified deadlines for each phase. Timely registration and accurate submission of details will help streamline the verification process and avoid last-minute complications.
