Protests Intensify in Patna Over NEET Aspirant’s Murder
Fresh demonstrations erupted in Patna as the family of a murdered NEET aspirant, joined by Purnia’s independent Member of Parliament, Pappu Yadav, took to the streets to demand swift justice. The protesters are calling for the immediate arrest of Roshni Kumari, the former station house officer of Chitragupt Nagar police station, and are pressing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file its charge sheet without further delay.
Family and Politician Unite on the Streets
The victim’s relatives, visibly frustrated with the pace of the investigation, organized a powerful protest march along Veer Chandra Patel Path. The procession began at the Income Tax Golambar, proceeded to the BJP office, and then returned to the starting point. Throughout the march, demonstrators chanted slogans and held banners demanding that the CBI expedite its probe and submit the charge sheet at the earliest.
Speaking at the protest, the grieving family reiterated their belief that negligence has plagued the case from the very beginning. They expressed disappointment that even the CBI, which took over the investigation, has not shown the required urgency. The core demands of the protesters remain clear: immediate filing of the charge sheet and the arrest of all those responsible for the heinous crime.
Pappu Yadav Slams Administration and Police
Pappu Yadav, who has been actively supporting the family, used the platform to launch a scathing attack on the state government and the police administration. He highlighted a disturbing trend of violent crimes against women in Bihar, stating that the administration appears to be asleep while such incidents continue to occur. He accused both the Bihar Police and now the CBI of showing laxity, which he claimed is preventing the family from receiving justice.
Yadav further alleged that criminals have lost all fear of the law, and the recurring violent incidents are a clear reflection of the administration’s failure. He specifically pointed to the case of Roshni Kumari, noting that while protesters had earlier demanded her arrest, she was merely suspended. He accused the authorities of trying to bury the case by only suspending the officer instead of taking stringent action against her.
Ongoing Demand for CBI Action
The protest in Patna is the latest in a series of agitations by the victim’s family, who have refused to relent until they see concrete progress in the case. Their primary grievance is the perceived lack of speed and transparency in the investigation. The family, supported by the MP, has made it clear that they will continue their fight on the streets until the CBI delivers on its promise of a thorough and timely investigation.
