DU Announces Likely Timeline for ECA Admission Trials
Delhi University has released a tentative schedule for physical trials under the Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota, with sessions expected to begin from July 15. The complete trial timetable will be published on the university’s official admission portal, according to the latest notification.
Important Update for Candidates
The university has clarified that individual notifications regarding trial dates and venues will not be sent to applicants separately. Candidates are advised to regularly monitor the DU admission website for updates specific to their ECA category, including trial centre locations and scheduled dates.
Documents and Materials Required for the Trial
Applicants must report to the designated trial centre assigned for their particular ECA category. It is mandatory to carry the original copies of all ECA certificates uploaded during the registration process, along with the CUET scorecard. Candidates travelling from outside Delhi will need to arrange their own transportation and accommodation, as the university will not provide any logistical support.
Evaluation Process and Guidelines
Participants are required to bring all necessary equipment, instruments, costumes, props, or stationery for their presentation. Borrowing or sharing these items with other candidates is strictly prohibited. The university has confirmed that there is no fixed syllabus for the trials, and assessment will be based entirely on the candidate’s talent and performance in their chosen ECA activity.
Key Rules to Follow During the Trial
The assessment committee’s decisions regarding scoring and evaluation will be final and binding. Once the trial concludes, there will be no provision for appeals or re-evaluation requests. Recording the trial through audio or video means is not permitted under any circumstances.
Use of mobile phones, electronic devices, internet access, or AI tools without explicit permission may lead to immediate disqualification. Candidates participate at their own risk, and no special concessions will be granted for illness or injury sustained during the trial.
Category-Specific Requirements
ECA categories include creative writing, debate, dance, digital media, fine arts, music, theatre, quiz, divinity, and yoga. For creative writing and debate, topics will be announced at the time of the trial itself. Dance, music, and theatre candidates must prepare a presentation lasting between 3 to 5 minutes.
Digital media applicants need to bring their own equipment and copies of previous work. The use of image editing software, filters, and AI-based tools is not allowed during digital media trials. Quiz category participants will be evaluated through a written round covering current affairs and general knowledge.
Rescheduling Requests
The university has stated that requests for changing trial dates will only be considered in exceptional circumstances, such as unavailability of travel tickets for outstation candidates. Such requests require approval from the ECA committee. Once the scheduled dates for a particular category have passed, no re-scheduling will be permitted, regardless of the reason, including medical emergencies.
Candidates are strongly encouraged to stay updated through the official admission portal and prepare well in advance for their respective trials. Given the strict guidelines and the finality of the assessment process, thorough preparation and adherence to all rules are essential for a smooth experience.
