Delhi University Revises Undergraduate Exam Schedule, Adds Sunday Papers
Delhi University has released an updated final timetable for its undergraduate examinations, introducing several significant changes to the originally announced schedule. The most notable adjustment is the inclusion of Sunday examinations for certain papers, a move designed to expedite the completion of exams for senior students.

According to Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, the University’s Controller of Examinations, the primary objective behind the revised timetable is to conclude examinations for sixth and eighth semester students at the earliest possible date. By compressing the examination window for senior students, the university aims to free up time for them to focus on their professional aspirations without the added stress of pending academic assessments.

This academic cycle marks a landmark moment for Delhi University as it prepares to conduct eighth semester examinations for the first time. This development follows the implementation of the four-year undergraduate programme introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Previously, the university only offered programmes spanning six semesters, making this an unprecedented addition to the academic calendar.
Exam Timeline: What Students Need to Know
The originally published schedule was set to run from May 16 through June 19. Under the newly revised plan, examinations for the sixth and eighth semesters will commence on May 16 and continue over the following fortnight, with papers scheduled on alternate days. This arrangement inevitably places some examinations on Sundays to accommodate the compressed timeframe.
Following the conclusion of senior semester exams, papers for the second and fourth semesters will be held over the subsequent two-week period. The university has confirmed that all even-semester examinations will be completed by June 14, well ahead of the original deadline.
Benefits for Students with Backlog Papers
The redesigned schedule also takes into consideration students who have backlog papers in their sixth or eighth semesters. University authorities have crafted the new timeline to allow these individuals greater flexibility in managing their remaining examinations. The Controller of Examinations has explicitly clarified this distinction to prevent any misunderstanding among the student body. Learners from non-NEP streams can continue preparing according to the previously announced dates.
