Delhi University Opens Applications for Paid Summer Internship Programme
Delhi University has officially launched the application process for its Vice Chancellor Summer Internship Programme 2026. Students currently enrolled at the university can submit their applications through the Dean Students Welfare (DSW) office portal until 27 April 2026. The official notification was released by the DSW office, confirming all key details regarding eligibility, stipend, and programme structure.
Programme Duration and Structure
The internship is designed as a two-month initiative scheduled to run from June through July 2026. During this period, selected students will have the opportunity to engage with various administrative and institutional functions within the university. The programme follows a part-time format, requiring approximately 20 hours of work per week, allowing students to balance their academic commitments alongside practical work experience.
Core Objectives of the Internship
The primary goal of this initiative is to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. Participants will gain firsthand exposure to the university’s administrative framework, operational procedures, and institutional activities. This hands-on experience is intended to sharpen professional competencies, enhance decision-making abilities, and build a solid foundation of workplace skills that will benefit students in their future careers.
In a related development, Delhi University has also introduced the Semester Away Programme (SAP), a separate initiative that allows undergraduate students to spend one semester studying at foreign higher education institutions. That programme focuses on providing international exposure, multidisciplinary learning opportunities, advanced teaching methodologies, research prospects, internships, and global networking connections. The university recently convened a meeting to discuss the implementation of this scheme.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the VC Summer Internship 2026:
- Only currently enrolled undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students of Delhi University are eligible to apply.
- Students from all academic streams, including Arts, Science, Commerce, and others, may submit their applications.
- Those in their final year or final semester of study are not permitted to apply for this programme.
Stipend and Compensation Details
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹11,576 throughout the duration of the internship. Upon successful completion of the two-month programme, participants will be awarded an official certificate issued by the Dean Students Welfare office. This certification serves as formal recognition of the student’s contribution and completion of the internship requirements.
Benefits for Participating Students
This internship offers a unique opportunity for students to acquire practical administrative experience while still pursuing their academic degrees. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of how a large educational institution operates, including its decision-making processes and day-to-day management. The experience gained through this programme can prove valuable for future employment prospects or advanced academic pursuits, as it demonstrates initiative, responsibility, and a willingness to engage with complex organisational environments.
Students interested in applying are encouraged to review the official notification carefully and ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before submitting their applications. The deadline of 27 April 2026 is firm, and late submissions will not be entertained.
