Education Minister Reviews NEET UG Re-Exam Preparations
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan convened a high-level meeting to assess the readiness for the upcoming NEET UG re-examination. The discussions centered on strengthening exam security, enhancing monitoring systems, and improving facilities for candidates. The re-test is scheduled to take place on June 21, 2026, across 550 cities nationwide.
High-Level Oversight Meeting
During the review session, Minister Pradhan was joined by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, former chairman of ISRO, who currently heads the high-level steering committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of recommendations related to the National Testing Agency (NTA). The meeting brought together the Secretary of Higher Education, the NTA Director General, senior agency officials, and representatives from the Ministry of Education.
Focus on Exam Security and Surveillance
The NTA Director General briefed attendees on the additional measures being introduced to fortify examination security and ensure smooth conduct of the test. Key points of discussion included evaluating the existing surveillance framework and outlining plans to further reinforce it.
Minister Pradhan emphasized that while safeguarding the integrity of the examination remains the foremost priority, equal attention must be paid to creating a comfortable and supportive environment for students at test centers. He stressed the need for a balanced approach that prioritizes both security and candidate well-being.
Exam Schedule and Venue Details
The NEET UG re-examination is slated for June 21, 2026. It will be conducted at more than 5,400 examination centers spread across 550 cities throughout the country. Authorities have confirmed that all necessary arrangements are being made to facilitate a seamless experience for the large number of aspiring medical students appearing for the test.
Officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the re-examination process is transparent, secure, and student-friendly, with all logistical aspects being carefully coordinated at both central and state levels.
