ICAI Declares CA Intermediate and Foundation January 2026 Results
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially released the much-awaited results for the CA Foundation and Intermediate examinations held in January 2026. Candidates who appeared for these tests can now access their scorecards and mark sheets through the official portal using their registration and roll numbers.
According to the data released by the institute, the overall pass rate for the CA Intermediate examination stood at 9.39%, while the CA Foundation examination recorded a pass percentage of 19.23%. The results for the Intermediate level have been published separately for Group I, Group II, and candidates appearing for both groups simultaneously.
CA Intermediate Pass Percentage Breakdown
The institute has provided a detailed breakdown of the performance of candidates across both groups of the Intermediate examination. The following table highlights the number of candidates who appeared and successfully cleared each segment:
- Group I: Out of 1,05,526 candidates who appeared, 14,733 cleared the examination, resulting in a pass percentage of 13.96%.
- Group II: A total of 69,477 candidates took the exam, with 10,798 emerging successful, achieving a pass rate of 15.54%.
- Both Groups: Among the 41,798 candidates who attempted both groups together, only 3,924 managed to clear, bringing the pass percentage to 9.39%.
CA Foundation Performance by Gender
The Foundation examination results have also been categorised based on gender, offering a clearer picture of candidate performance:
- Male Candidates: Of the 57,238 male candidates who appeared, 11,523 qualified, recording a pass percentage of 20.13%.
- Female Candidates: A total of 52,456 female candidates took the examination, out of which 9,576 succeeded, achieving a pass rate of 18.26%.
- Overall: Combining both genders, 21,099 out of 1,09,694 candidates cleared the Foundation exam, marking an aggregate success rate of 19.23%.
Minimum Marks Required to Qualify
As per the regulations set by ICAI, passing the CA examinations requires candidates to meet stringent criteria. A candidate must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each individual subject and an aggregate of at least 50% across all subjects combined. Only those who fulfil both these conditions simultaneously are declared successful in the examination.
Next Steps for Successful Candidates
For those who have cleared the CA Foundation examination, the next logical step is to register for the CA Intermediate course. On the other hand, candidates who have successfully passed both groups of the CA Intermediate examination are now eligible to commence their mandatory practical training, commonly known as articleship. This hands-on training period is a crucial component of the CA curriculum, after which students can proceed to prepare for the CA Final examination.
Candidates are advised to download their official result documents from the ICAI website and retain them for future reference during registration and training processes.
