IIT Delhi Opens Applications for Summer Research Fellowship 2026
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has officially opened applications for its Summer Research Fellowship Programme (SRFP) 2026. This initiative offers students a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful research projects under the mentorship of distinguished faculty members. Programme Duration and Structure
The fellowship is structured as an intensive eight-week programme running from 13 May to 13 July 2026. Eligibility Criteria
Two categories of students are eligible to apply for this fellowship:
Undergraduate Students
- Students enrolled in engineering programmes at institutions other than IIT Delhi
- Must have completed at least two years of their engineering studies
- Should rank within the top 10 of their current class or programme
Postgraduate Students (M.Tech/ME)
- Students from institutions other than IIT Delhi
- Must have completed their first semester
- Should hold a position within the top 10 of their class
- Must have achieved at least 70% marks or a CGPA of 7.0 or above
Fellowship Benefits and Support
Selected candidates will receive comprehensive support throughout the programme duration. The fellowship package includes a weekly stipend of 2,000 rupees, providing a total of 16,000 rupees over the full eight-week period. Additionally, students will be provided with complimentary hostel accommodation and meals on campus, along with reimbursement for sleeper-class train travel within the country.
Participants will be formally registered as visiting students at IIT Delhi, and no registration fees will be charged. However, it is mandatory for each student to obtain personal insurance coverage for the duration of their stay, with the cost borne by the student themselves.
Required Documents for Application
Applicants must prepare the following documents before beginning the online application process:
- A recent passport-sized photograph in JPG format, meeting the specified dimensions
- Consolidated mark sheets or academic transcripts in PDF format
- A rank certificate from their current institution
- A No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by their institute
The institute has emphasised that all uploaded documents must be clear and legible. Applications with unclear or unreadable documents may face rejection.
