Jamia Millia Islamia Expands Academic Offerings with 30 New Programs for 2026-27

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has officially announced its admission schedule for the upcoming academic year 2026-27, unveiling a significantly expanded curriculum. The university has released its new prospectus and opened the online application portal, marking the beginning of the admission cycle. Prospective students can now explore a wide array of new academic pathways designed to meet evolving educational demands.

Introducing 30 New Academic Programs

In a major academic expansion, the university will introduce 30 new programs across various levels of study, including undergraduate, postgraduate, advanced diploma, postgraduate diploma, certificate, and diploma courses. This diverse range of offerings reflects JMI’s commitment to providing comprehensive educational opportunities that cater to a broad spectrum of student interests and career aspirations.

The new programs include specialized undergraduate degrees such as BA Honours in Japanese Studies, BA Honours in German Studies, and BA Honours in Human Resource Management, all offered under the self-finance scheme. Additionally, the university will launch an LLM in Corporate Law as a regular self-financed program, a BE in Civil Engineering as an evening self-financed course, alongside an MA in Social Work and an MSc in Botany, among other offerings.

Admission Process and Important Dates

The university has structured its admission process to accommodate different program requirements. For courses requiring entrance examinations, online application forms will be available until March 25. The entrance tests themselves will be conducted across a wider network of cities, now spanning 11 locations nationwide. This year, the university has added Jaipur, Dehradun, and Kishangarh as new examination centers, complementing the existing centers in Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Kolkata, Srinagar, Calicut, and Bhopal.

For programs admitting students based on national-level test scores, the application window operates differently. Students seeking admission through JEE Main, NATA, BPAT, NEET, NCET, or CUET can submit their online forms starting February 20. The deadline for these applications extends to 10 days after the respective testing agencies announce their results, providing flexibility for candidates awaiting their scores.

Multiple Entry Mode for Undergraduate Programs

Aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, JMI will implement a multiple entry mode for its four-year undergraduate programs. This innovative approach allows greater flexibility in the academic journey, enabling students to enter or exit the program at various stages. For programs operating under this system, online admission forms will be available from February 20 through April 10, provided seats remain available.

Fee Structure and International Student Initiatives

In a welcome announcement for students and families, the university has confirmed that there will be no increase in fees for any program for the upcoming academic session. This decision maintains the affordability of education at JMI while expanding the range of available courses.

The university has also taken significant steps to attract international students by revising its fee structure for foreign applicants. Students from SAARC nations, West Asian countries, African nations, and Latin American countries will benefit from a region-wise fee framework applied across undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs. This initiative aims to enhance JMI’s global presence and foster cross-cultural academic exchange.

Application Categories and Procedures

To streamline the application process, the university has organized admissions into four distinct categories based on program type and entry requirements. Each category has its own application timeline and submission process, making it easier for candidates to identify the appropriate path for their chosen program.

  • Regular Programs: Applications can be submitted through the standard university admission portal for programs requiring the institution’s own entrance test.
  • CUET-Based Programs: Candidates seeking admission through CUET scores will apply via the designated university admission interface.
  • BTech and BArch Programs: Engineering and architecture aspirants have a separate application channel tailored to these specialized programs.
  • Multiple Entry Programs: Students interested in the flexible entry mode can apply through the regular admission system during the extended application window.

This organized approach ensures that applicants can easily navigate the admission requirements and submit their materials correctly. The university encourages all interested candidates to review the prospectus thoroughly and complete their applications within the designated timelines for their chosen programs.

With the expansion to 30 new programs, the addition of three new examination centers, and the continued freeze on fee increases, Jamia Millia Islamia demonstrates its dedication to accessible, high-quality higher education. The university’s forward-looking approach, including the adoption of NEP 2020 guidelines and enhanced international student outreach, positions it as an increasingly attractive destination for students from across India and around the world.
