JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Result Date Announced

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially confirmed the release date for the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results. This announcement brings significant relief to the over 13 lakh candidates who appeared for the first session of one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance examinations. Once the results are declared, students will be able to access their scorecards through the official examination portal.

When Will the Results Be Declared?

According to the latest update from the NTA, the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results are expected to be released on Monday, 16 February 2026. The first session of the examination was conducted in January, with the B.E./B.Tech papers held across ten shifts between 21 January and 29 January. The Paper 2 examinations for B.Arch and B.Planning applicants took place on 29 January.

The NTA had earlier hinted at the result timeline through its official social media channels, building anticipation among aspirants who have been eagerly waiting for their performance reports.

Understanding the JEE Main Scoring System

Unlike conventional examinations, JEE Main does not have fixed passing marks. Candidate eligibility is determined based on cutoff percentiles rather than raw scores. The qualifying percentile for admission purposes is calculated using the final answer key, which means raw marks alone do not determine a candidate’s qualification status.

The percentile scores are derived through a normalization process applied to scores calculated from the final answer key. This methodology ensures fairness across different examination shifts, as it accounts for variations in difficulty levels between sessions. This approach allows for an equitable comparison of performance across all candidates, regardless of when they took the examination.

Key Dates for JEE Main 2026 Sessions

The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination was conducted on 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29 January. With the Session 1 results now scheduled for release, the NTA has also outlined the timeline for Session 2, providing candidates with a clear roadmap for the admission cycle.

Candidates who are not satisfied with their Session 1 performance have the opportunity to improve their scores by appearing for Session 2. The application window for Session 2 remains open until 25 February 2026. The Session 2 examinations are scheduled to be conducted from 2 April to 9 April 2026.

How to Access Your JEE Main Result

Students can follow these steps to view and download their scorecards once the results are officially released:

  • Visit the official JEE Main examination website
  • Locate the Session 1 result link under the latest news or announcements section on the homepage
  • Enter your application number, password, and the captcha code to log in
  • Your result will be displayed on the screen once the login is successful
  • Download and save the scorecard for future reference during the admission process

The scorecard will contain detailed information about the candidate’s performance, including subject-wise scores, percentile rankings, and overall merit position. This document is essential for the subsequent counselling and admission procedures for IITs, NITs, and other participating engineering institutions across the country.

As the result date approaches, candidates are advised to keep their login credentials handy and regularly check the official website for any last-minute updates or changes to the schedule. The NTA typically releases results in the afternoon or evening hours, so students should plan accordingly to avoid server congestion during peak access times.
