JEE Main 2026: Final Day to Challenge Provisional Answer Key

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has set today, April 13, as the last date for candidates to raise objections against the provisional answer key for JEE Main 2026 Session 2. Students who appeared for the exam can submit their challenges until 11:50 PM tonight. Any objections submitted after this deadline will not be considered under any circumstances.

What Materials Are Available for Review

According to the official notice released by NTA, the provisional answer key, along with the question paper and the response sheet for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), has been made available on the official website. Candidates can now cross-check their answers against the provisional key and file objections if they find any discrepancies in questions or answers. The online objection facility remains open only for Paper 1 at this stage.

Exam Schedule and Format

The JEE Main 2026 Session 2 examinations were conducted on specific dates in April. Paper 1 was held on April 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8, while Paper 2A (B.Arch.) and Paper 2B (B.Planning) took place on April 7. The exams were organized across 567 centers spread over 306 cities within the country, along with test centers in 14 international cities.

Objection Fee Structure

Candidates wishing to file an objection must pay a non-refundable fee of ₹200 per question. The payment can be made using debit cards, credit cards, or net banking facilities. It is important to note that objections submitted without the required fee will be rejected. The deadline for fee payment is also set for tonight at 11:50 PM, so candidates must ensure both submission and payment are completed before the cutoff time.

Step-by-Step Process to File Objections

To raise a challenge against the provisional answer key, candidates need to follow a straightforward online procedure:

  • Visit the official JEE Main website and log in using their application number and password
  • Select the specific question they wish to challenge
  • Choose the answer option they believe is correct
  • Upload supporting documents as a single PDF file to substantiate their claim
  • Complete the payment process after submitting the objection

How NTA Will Handle Objections

NTA has clarified that if a candidate’s objection is found to be valid, the answer key will be revised accordingly. Any corrections made to the answer key will apply uniformly to all candidates who appeared for the exam. The final results will be prepared based on this revised answer key. However, individual candidates will not receive separate notifications about whether their specific objection was accepted or rejected. The final answer key, prepared after review by subject matter experts, will be considered the definitive and binding version.

Candidates are advised to complete the objection process well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute technical issues. With only a few hours remaining, those who believe there are errors in the provisional answer key should act promptly to ensure their challenges are registered in time.
