JNU Releases E-Prospectus for 2026-27 Admissions

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has officially released its e-prospectus for the 2026-27 academic session, outlining the complete admission framework for undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and advanced diploma programs. The university’s latest notification provides prospective students with detailed information on how to secure admission across its diverse range of courses.

Undergraduate Admissions Through CUET UG

For students aiming to join undergraduate programs, JNU has confirmed that admission to BA (Honors) Foreign Language, B.Sc. Ayurveda Biology, and Certificate of Proficiency programs will be determined based on performance in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) 2026. This standardized examination will serve as the primary gateway for these popular undergraduate offerings.

JEE Main Score Required for B.Tech Programs

Engineering aspirants looking to join JNU’s B.Tech programs will need to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main). The university has specified that admission to its engineering programs will be granted exclusively on the basis of JEE Main scores, ensuring that candidates are evaluated through a nationally recognized competitive framework.

Postgraduate Admissions via CUET PG

Graduate-level programs including MA, M.Sc., M.Phil, M.Tech, PG Diploma, and Advanced Diploma courses will all accept admissions through the CUET PG 2026 examination. This unified approach streamlines the admission process for postgraduate aspirants while maintaining rigorous academic standards across disciplines.

Specialized Admissions Through GAT-B and CCMT

Certain specialized programs follow distinct admission pathways. For instance, M.Sc. Biotechnology and M.Sc. Computational Biology candidates will be selected based on their Graduate Aptitude Test Biotechnology (GAT-B) scores. Meanwhile, admission to the School of Engineering’s M.Tech programs in Computer Science and Electronics & Communication will be facilitated through the Centralized Counseling for M.Tech (CCMT) process.

Separate Application Required After Entrance Exams

An important detail for all applicants to note is that securing a qualifying score in the respective entrance examination alone is not sufficient. The university has explicitly stated that candidates must submit a separate application to JNU once the results of their relevant entrance tests are announced. This two-step process requires students to remain vigilant and regularly monitor the official university website for updates regarding application windows and deadlines.

International Students Can Now Apply

JNU has also opened its admission portal for international students pursuing studies at the university. The deadline for foreign applicants to submit their completed application forms is set for April 30, 2026. International candidates are required to send their applications either by postal mail or through email to the JNU administrative block before this cutoff date.

Key Considerations for Applicants

Before initiating the application process, candidates should carefully review all eligibility criteria and procedural guidelines outlined in the prospectus. It is essential to not only register for and appear in the relevant entrance examination but also to complete the separate JNU application within the designated timeframe. Staying informed about important dates and requirements will help ensure a smooth admission experience without unnecessary complications.

Prospective students are encouraged to prepare their documentation in advance and keep track of examination schedules to avoid any last-minute difficulties during the application period.
