KCET Counselling 2026: Mock Seat Allotment Released

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially released the mock seat allotment results for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) counselling process for 2026. Candidates who have already completed the option entry phase can now log in to the official counselling portal to view their provisional seat allocation based on their preferences and merit.

Purpose of the Mock Allotment

The mock allotment serves as a preliminary indicator, giving candidates a realistic preview of the college and course they are likely to receive. This provisional allocation is calculated using several key factors, including the candidate’s KCET rank, category, selected college and course preferences, and the total number of available seats at the time of processing.

This exercise is designed to help candidates assess their current standing and make informed decisions before the actual seat allocation rounds begin. It offers valuable insight into how their choices stack up against the competition.

Deadline for Modifying Choices

Following the release of the mock allotment, candidates have been granted a window to revise their preferences. They may add, remove, reorder, or completely change their college and course selections until 10:00 AM on July 9, 2026.

Once this deadline passes, the choices locked by each candidate will serve as the basis for the first round of actual seat allotment. It is essential for candidates to carefully review their options and make any necessary adjustments well before the cutoff time.

Mock Allotment Is Not Final

The KEA has explicitly stated that the mock seat allotment is issued solely to display a probable outcome. It does not represent a confirmed or final seat allocation. Therefore, candidates are not required to report to any college based on this provisional result.

Furthermore, the authority has directed all colleges not to admit any candidate on the strength of the mock allotment list. Candidates should wait for the official allotment rounds before taking any admission-related steps.

Will the First Round Match the Mock Result?

Even if a candidate chooses not to alter their preferences after viewing the mock allotment, there is no guarantee that the same seat will be assigned in the first round of actual allocation. This is because other candidates may modify their own choices, which can shift the dynamics of seat distribution and ultimately influence the final allotment outcome.

Who Was Included in the Mock Allotment?

The mock seat allotment process only covered those candidates whose KCET 2026 ranks were published on or before June 29, 2026. Candidates who received their ranks after this date will not appear in the mock results. Instead, they will be directly considered during the first round of real seat allotment.

Steps to Check the Mock Seat Allotment Result

Candidates can follow the simple process outlined below to view their mock allotment status:

  • Visit the official counselling website of the Karnataka Examinations Authority.
  • Locate and click on the link labelled “UGCET 2026 Mock Seat Allotment Result.”
  • Enter the required login credentials, including the KCET application or CET number and password.
  • Click the submit or login button to proceed.
  • The mock seat allotment result will be displayed on the screen.
  • Review the allocated college, course, and category details carefully.
  • Download the result and keep a printed copy for future reference.

Candidates are strongly advised to use this opportunity to refine their preferences strategically. The mock allotment provides a clear picture of where they stand, allowing them to make well-informed choices before the final locking deadline. Keeping track of important dates and regularly checking the official portal for updates will help ensure a smooth counselling experience.
