SRTM University Imposes Admission Ban on BSc Programs Across 24 Colleges

Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU) in Nanded, Maharashtra, has taken decisive action by suspending new admissions to Bachelor of Science (BSc) programs at 24 affiliated colleges for the 2026-27 academic session. The university administration cited multiple serious deficiencies in both academic infrastructure and administrative operations as the reason behind this significant move.

Investigation Uncovers Major Shortcomings

According to the university’s Academic Affiliation Department, a comprehensive review revealed that numerous colleges offering BSc courses lacked essential laboratory facilities required for practical learning. The inspection process also exposed that several institutions had failed to appoint qualified teaching staff and principals, raising serious concerns about educational quality and institutional governance.

University officials confirmed on Monday that the assessment identified three primary areas of concern:

  • Inadequate laboratory infrastructure essential for science education
  • Non-appointment of qualified faculty members and administrative heads
  • Failure to submit mandatory proposals for online academic and administrative audits

Affected Institutions Across Four Districts

The admission freeze applies to colleges located across four districts: Nanded, Hingoli, Latur, and Parbhani. This widespread action demonstrates the university’s commitment to enforcing quality standards uniformly across its affiliated network rather than targeting specific institutions.

University representatives emphasized that no new students will be permitted to enroll in BSc first-year programs at these institutions until they successfully address all identified shortcomings and meet the required standards. The ban will remain in effect indefinitely until compliance is achieved.

Strict Measures for Non-Compliant Institutions

The enforcement action extends beyond simple deficiencies, encompassing colleges that either failed the inspection process entirely or received an ‘F’ grade during evaluation. These institutions demonstrated significant gaps in meeting basic educational requirements, prompting the university to take firm action.

Officials clarified that the affected colleges must undergo re-evaluation and demonstrate substantial improvements before the admission ban can be lifted. The university has established clear protocols for these institutions to follow in order to restore their eligibility for student enrollment.

University Urges Students to Verify College Credentials

In light of these findings, SRTMU has issued a formal advisory to prospective students and their families, strongly recommending thorough verification of any college’s accreditation status, laboratory facilities, and official recognition before proceeding with admission. This guidance aims to protect students from enrolling in institutions that may not provide adequate educational experiences.

University authorities maintain that this decision reflects their dedication to preserving the integrity of higher education and ensuring that students receive quality academic environments. The administration views this action as a necessary step toward maintaining educational standards across all affiliated institutions, even if it requires difficult decisions in the short term.

The university’s proactive stance sends a clear message about its commitment to educational quality and student welfare. By holding affiliated colleges accountable for meeting established standards, SRTMU is reinforcing its role as a guardian of academic excellence in the region. The administration expects that this measure will prompt affected institutions to quickly rectify their deficiencies and work toward restoring their admission privileges for the benefit of future students.
