NBEMS Fellowship Entrance Exam 2026: Registration Now Open
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially opened the application window for the Fellowship Entrance Test (FET) 2026. Aspiring medical professionals can now submit their applications online through the official NBEMS portal. The registration process commenced on January 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM and will remain active until February 3, 2026.
This examination serves as the gateway for admission into various Fellowships of the National Board (FNB) programs for the 2025 academic session. Selected candidates will embark on a comprehensive two-year training journey with a competitive monthly stipend that can reach up to ₹1.25 lakh.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Applicants must meet specific criteria to be considered for the FET 2026. Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders are eligible to apply. Additionally, foreign nationals may apply for FPIS courses offered under this fellowship program.
The educational qualification requirement includes a recognized postgraduate degree such as MD, MS, DM, MCh, DNB, or DrNB in the relevant specialty. Candidates must also hold valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or a State Medical Council. This registration can be either permanent or provisional, but it must be presented during the admission or counseling process.
Another crucial requirement is that applicants must obtain their degree or passing certificate on or before the cutoff date. Without this documentation, the application will not be considered valid.
Compensation and Training Structure

The NBEMS Fellowship Entrance Test will be conducted in a computer-based format. Candidates will have 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the examination. The test comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with the number of questions ranging from approximately 100 to 120 depending on the subject area.
The scoring system is straightforward:
- Each correct answer earns 4 marks
- Each incorrect answer results in a deduction of 1 mark
The syllabus is designed around the broad specialty and the specific super-specialty chosen by the candidate. To qualify for the counseling round, applicants must achieve at least the 50th percentile in their respective specialty. This benchmark ensures that only candidates with adequate knowledge and competency progress to the next stage of the selection process.
