NBEMS Mandates OPJR Joining Process for DNB 2025 Trainees
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued a new directive requiring all candidates admitted to the 2025 session of NBEMS Diploma and Post-MBBS DNB Broad Specialty courses to complete their joining formalities and self-appraisal through the Online Portal for Joining and Registration (OPJR). This step is now compulsory for every trainee enrolling in these programs.
Who Must Complete the OPJR Process
According to the official notice, the requirement applies to a wide range of candidates. All students who have been allocated seats through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) must update their joining status on the OPJR portal. Additionally, those entering through the in-service quota under state governments, railways, public sector undertakings (PSUs), or the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) are also required to follow the same procedure.
The directive extends equally to NBEMS-recognized hospitals. These institutions are responsible for verifying the documents and details submitted by the candidates. Hospitals must ensure that all information provided by trainees aligns with the original records before confirming the allocation.
Important Dates and Deadlines
The OPJR portal will become active starting March 9. Trainees have until April 9 to complete their portion of the process, which includes submitting the self-appraisal form and ensuring their joining report is uploaded. Hospitals, on the other hand, have been given additional time to finish the verification process. They must complete all checks and confirmations by April 30.
Steps for Candidates
Candidates are expected to follow a clear sequence of steps on the portal. First, they must complete all joining formalities as required. Next, they need to fill out the self-appraisal form accurately. Finally, they must ensure that the concerned hospital uploads the joining report, referred to as Annexure-A, on their behalf.
Once these steps are done, the hospital is tasked with carefully verifying the candidate’s self-appraisal and supporting documents. The institution must then confirm the allocation details. NBEMS has emphasized that the self-appraisal process is essential for determining a trainee’s eligibility for registration. The evaluation will strictly follow the criteria laid out in the relevant information booklet.
Verification of Reserved Category Documents
For candidates who have secured admission under reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, or EWS, hospitals have an additional responsibility. They must verify the original and valid caste or category certificates as per the guidelines provided by the MCC. This verification is mandatory and must be completed before the candidate’s registration can proceed.
Training Commences Only After Formal Relieving
NBEMS has also clarified a critical point regarding in-service candidates. For those working under a state quota or employed in a government institution, training will only be considered to have officially started once the candidate has been formally relieved from their parent organization. Any training undertaken before this formal relieving process will be deemed invalid and declared null and void.
Temporary Registration and Consequences of False Information
After all procedures are completed and verification is successfully carried out, candidates will be issued a provisional registration letter. However, NBEMS has made it clear that this registration is strictly temporary in nature. It remains subject to further verification at any point. If any incorrect information or misleading details are discovered in the self-appraisal, the candidate’s admission may be cancelled without notice.
No Extensions on Joining Dates
The board has further stated that training must commence within the reporting period specified during counseling. Any request for an extension of the joining date will not be entertained unless prior approval has been obtained from the appropriate authorities. Candidates are advised to adhere strictly to the timeline to avoid any complications with their admission status.
All trainees and hospitals are urged to comply with these instructions promptly to ensure a smooth onboarding process for the 2025 academic session.
