CBI Arrests Coaching Center Owner in Maharashtra Over NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made a significant breakthrough in the NEET UG 2026 question paper leak case, arresting a coaching institute owner from Latur, Maharashtra. This marks the tenth arrest in the ongoing investigation, which has uncovered a coordinated network allegedly involved in distributing the leaked exam paper.

Suspect Identified as Chemistry Coaching Operator

The arrested individual has been identified as Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, who runs a coaching center operating under the name “Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC)” in Latur. According to officials, Motegaonkar was taken into custody after a search of his premises on Sunday, during which investigators reportedly discovered a leaked copy of the medical entrance examination paper stored on his mobile phone.

The CBI alleges that Motegaonkar was an active participant in an organized group responsible for leaking and circulating the NEET UG 2026 question paper. His arrest adds to a growing list of suspects who are believed to have played various roles in the scheme.

Question Paper Accessed Before the Exam

Investigators have revealed that the accused, along with other individuals already in custody, allegedly obtained the question paper and its answer key as early as April 23, 2026 — well ahead of the scheduled examination date. Following this, the paper is said to have been distributed to multiple recipients, expanding the reach of the leak.

The CBI is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, tracing the full extent of the network and examining the involvement of other individuals who may have facilitated or benefited from the leak. Authorities have indicated that further arrests are likely as the probe continues.

List of Arrests So Far

With the latest apprehension, the total number of arrests in the case now stands at ten. Those taken into custody so far include:

  • Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar
  • Manisha Gurunath Mandhare
  • Prof. P.V. Kulkarni
  • Mangilal Bival
  • Vikas Bival
  • Dinesh Bival
  • Yash Yadav
  • Shubham Khairnar
  • Manisha Waghmare
  • Dhananjay Lokhande

The investigation has shed light on how the leaked material was sourced and disseminated, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the examination process. The CBI’s focus now remains on identifying all individuals connected to the leak, including those who may have received or shared the question paper, as well as anyone who played a role in orchestrating the operation.

As the probe widens, education authorities and candidates alike are closely watching the developments, hoping for swift justice and measures to prevent such incidents in future examination cycles.
