NTA Finalizes Extensive Security Arrangements for NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has completed all preparatory measures for the upcoming NEET UG re-examination, scheduled to take place from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM in the traditional pen-and-paper format. Candidates falling under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD/PwBD) category will receive additional time to complete their papers, with the extended deadline set for 6:20 PM. This large-scale examination will witness participation from over 22.79 lakh aspirants across 551 cities in India and 14 international locations.

Massive Administrative Deployment and Multi-Layered Security Framework

In an effort to ensure complete fairness and transparency, the examination authority has established an extensive security infrastructure at the administrative level. The arrangements reflect a comprehensive approach to safeguarding the integrity of the examination process.

Extensive Workforce Deployment

More than two lakh personnel have been mobilized across the nation to facilitate the smooth execution of the examination. This includes 674 city coordinators, 6,669 independent observers stationed at various centers for unbiased monitoring, along with center superintendents and invigilators who will oversee the proceedings at each venue.

Secure Transportation of Examination Materials

The confidential examination content has been transported to secure locations utilizing police escorts and GPS-enabled vehicles, with full cooperation from district administrations and law enforcement agencies. This ensures that all materials reach their destinations without any compromise to their integrity.

Advanced Surveillance and Identity Verification Systems

All examination centers are equipped with CCTV cameras that stream live footage directly to a central control room for real-time monitoring. To prevent any instances of impersonation, candidates will undergo Aadhaar-based biometric authentication and thorough frisking using high-sensitivity metal detectors before being granted entry to the examination halls.

Social Media Monitoring and Investigative Oversight

Round-the-clock surveillance of social media platforms is being conducted to counter the spread of false information and fraudulent activities. The NTA has also filed formal complaints with the cyber crime authorities and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding potential threats to the examination’s integrity.

Contingency Measures for Technical Difficulties

In a student-friendly decision, the NTA has ensured that candidates will not be denied entry even if technical complications arise during the verification process. Should a candidate face issues such as system malfunctions, poor fingerprint quality, or connectivity problems with the UIDAI database, they will still be permitted to take the examination. In such cases, a written undertaking will be obtained from the candidate at the center, followed by manual identity verification using valid documentation before allowing them to proceed with the test.

Special Arrangements to Combat Heat Conditions

Given that the examination falls during the afternoon shift and several parts of the country are experiencing intense summer heat, the NTA has issued strict directives to all centers regarding candidate comfort and safety.

  • Every examination center must have robust power backup systems, including generators, to prevent any disruption.
  • Adequate electricity, lighting, and fan facilities have been mandated to ensure a comfortable environment during the afternoon hours.
  • Wall clocks will be installed in examination rooms for time reference, along with provisions for clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and on-site medical support.
  • Candidates are permitted to carry transparent water bottles into the examination hall.
  • Special provisions have been made for diabetic candidates, who may bring sugar tablets, fruits such as bananas, apples, or oranges, along with transparent water bottles as per the established guidelines.

Reporting Times and Dress Code Regulations

Strict protocols have been established regarding entry times and permissible items to maintain order and security at all examination venues.

Entry Window

Candidates must report to their designated centers between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. The gates will be firmly closed at 1:30 PM, and no entry will be permitted under any circumstances after this deadline.

Required Documents and Items

All candidates must carry a printed copy of their admit card, one original valid photo identification document such as an Aadhaar card, and two passport-sized photographs to be affixed to the attendance sheet.

Guidelines for Traditional Attire

Those wearing traditional or religious clothing, or individuals who wish to wear full-sleeved or woolen garments, are advised to arrive at the center well in advance to allow sufficient time for the necessary security checks.

Prohibited Items

Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, wallets, jewelry, and any form of food items are strictly forbidden inside the examination hall. Candidates are urged to leave these items at home to avoid any complications during the entry process.

Helpline Services and Essential Guidance

The NTA has issued a warning to students against falling prey to fraudulent claims of paper leaks or other baseless rumors circulating on various platforms. Any suspicious messages or channels should be promptly reported to the NTA or the cyber crime cell for appropriate action.

For candidates experiencing mental stress or any form of anxiety, the national mental health helpline Tele-MANAS is available around the clock at 14416. Additionally, the NTA operates its own helpline services during operational hours from 10:00 AM to 5:15 PM, with dedicated phone lines and email support. Candidates can also refer to the official websites for the latest updates and information regarding the examination.
