NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: NTA Enforces Strict Dress Code and Restricted Items List

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an official set of guidelines governing dress codes and permissible items for the upcoming NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination, scheduled to take place on June 21, 2026, at test centers across the country. These measures are designed to ensure the examination process remains transparent, secure, and free from any form of malpractice.

Candidates appearing for the exam are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with these regulations well in advance. Being caught unaware of the restrictions could lead to unnecessary delays, additional scrutiny, or in severe cases, denial of entry into the examination hall. The NTA has emphasized that compliance with these rules is not optional but mandatory for all test-takers.

Allowed Items and Clothing for the Examination

To make the examination day experience as smooth as possible, the NTA has specified what candidates may carry with them and what they are permitted to wear. Adherence to these guidelines will help streamline the security check process and prevent any last-minute complications.

  • Transparent Water Bottle: Candidates are permitted to bring a clear, see-through water bottle into the examination center. Opaque or tinted bottles will not be allowed.
  • Admit Card Protection: To safeguard the admit card from rain or accidental damage, candidates may carry it inside a transparent plastic pouch. No other type of cover or folder is permitted.
  • Religious Attire: Items worn for religious faith, such as kalava (sacred thread), turbans, and hijabs, are allowed. However, candidates wearing such items must arrive at the test center well ahead of time to allow for the necessary additional checks.
  • Clothing Choices: Lightweight, comfortable clothing is strongly recommended. Candidates may also opt for full-sleeve garments or woolen clothing if the weather or personal comfort requires it, as long as they are simple and free of any metallic embellishments.

Items Strictly Prohibited Inside the Exam Hall

The NTA has drawn a clear line regarding what cannot be taken into the examination room. The list of banned items is comprehensive, and any violation will result in immediate disqualification or legal action as per examination bylaws.

  • Footwear: Candidates are advised to wear slippers or shoes with low heels. High-heeled footwear is subject to mandatory extra inspection, which could consume valuable time before the exam begins.
  • Electronic Gadgets: Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, and any other form of electronic equipment are strictly forbidden inside the examination hall. This ban is absolute and non-negotiable.
  • Metallic Objects: Items made of metal, including large belt buckles, heavy jewelry, and other metal accessories, are not permitted. Candidates should avoid wearing such items to the center altogether.
  • Other Accessories: Any item that could potentially be used for unfair means is prohibited. The NTA reserves the right to confiscate any object deemed suspicious during the security screening.

Every candidate will undergo a thorough frisking procedure prior to entering the examination venue. This process is time-intensive, which is why the NTA has repeatedly stressed the importance of arriving at the center with ample time to spare. Rushing through the security check not only increases stress levels but also risks missing the reporting deadline.

Contact Information for Candidate Assistance

For any queries, clarifications, or reporting of issues related to the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination, candidates can reach out to the NTA helpdesk. The agency has set up dedicated support lines to assist students with any problems they may encounter before or on the day of the test.

Candidates are encouraged to use these official channels for any examination-related concerns, from dress code confusion to logistical issues at the test center. The support team is available to provide guidance and resolve problems promptly, ensuring that no candidate is left without assistance when needed.

It is crucial for every aspirant to treat these guidelines with the seriousness they deserve. Proper preparation regarding what to wear and what to leave at home can make the difference between a smooth examination experience and one fraught with unnecessary obstacles. The NTA’s primary objective is to conduct a fair and glitch-free examination, and candidate cooperation is essential to achieving that goal.
