NEET UG 2026 Retest Scheduled for June 21 with Enhanced Security Measures

Following widespread concerns over paper leaks, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the NEET UG 2026 examination will be conducted afresh on June 21. In a significant move aimed at ensuring the integrity of the process, this will be the first time that paramilitary forces and defense agencies will be deployed to oversee the transportation and security of question papers across examination centers nationwide.

The decision was finalized during a series of high-level meetings held on Friday, involving officials from both the central and state governments. Authorities have resolved to place the security arrangements for all test centers under the direct charge of paramilitary personnel. Special attention will be given to centers in Pune and Latur, which were previously linked to the leak controversy. These locations will receive heightened surveillance, including comprehensive CCTV monitoring and dedicated teams to counter the spread of misinformation on social media platforms.

Comprehensive Coordination and Vigilance

The meetings were attended by chief secretaries from Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, alongside senior police and district administration officials. The NTA has announced that fresh admit cards will be issued to all registered candidates. With an estimated 23 lakh aspirants expected to appear for the exam, authorities are leaving no stone unturned. In addition to on-ground security, aerial surveillance using drones will be deployed at various test locations to monitor activities and ensure a smooth, fair conduct of the examination.

Exam Schedule and Key Details

The re-examination is scheduled to take place on June 21, from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. This time window includes all necessary pre-examination formalities. The test will be conducted in the traditional pen-and-paper (offline) mode, available in 13 different languages to cater to candidates from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Candidates are advised to note an important deadline: they can update their current residential address and preferred examination city from May 15 until May 21, 2026, at 11:50 PM. Once this window closes, no further changes will be permitted under any circumstances. Applicants are encouraged to visit the official NTA website for the latest updates and detailed information regarding the examination process. All stakeholders are urged to stay informed and prepare accordingly for the revised schedule.
