NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: Provisional Answer Key Released

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the provisional answer key for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. This development brings much-awaited clarity for the over 20 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam conducted on June 21. Students can now access and download the answer key PDF from the official NTA website, allowing them to evaluate their performance before the final results are announced.

How to Access the Answer Key

Candidates who participated in the re-exam can retrieve the answer key by visiting the official NTA portal. The process is straightforward and requires basic login credentials. Here is the step-by-step procedure to view and download the answer key:

  • Visit the official NTA website dedicated to NEET examinations
  • Navigate to the ‘Public Notices’ section on the homepage
  • Locate the link titled ‘Provisional answer key, response sheets of candidates who appeared in June 21 exam’
  • Click on the link and enter your application number along with your password or date of birth
  • The answer key will appear on the screen for review
  • Download the PDF and save it for future reference

The answer key is available for all question paper codes, including 50, 60, 70, and 80, ensuring that every candidate can access the relevant version corresponding to their exam booklet.

Challenge Window Open Until June 28

Alongside the release of the provisional answer key, the NTA has also activated the objection submission window. Candidates who believe that any answer provided in the key is incorrect have the opportunity to challenge it within a specified timeframe. The deadline for submitting challenges is June 28, with the window closing at 11:50 PM on that date.

This provision ensures transparency and gives candidates a fair chance to contest any discrepancies they may have identified in the answer key. It is important to note that challenges must be supported by valid reasoning and evidence to be considered for review.

Challenge Fee Structure

To submit an objection, candidates are required to pay a nominal processing fee. The challenge fee has been set at Rs. 200 per question. This amount is applicable for each question that a candidate wishes to contest. Importantly, if the NTA determines that a candidate’s challenge is valid and the objection is upheld, the fee will be refunded in full.

This refund policy encourages candidates to come forward with genuine concerns without worrying about financial implications, while also discouraging frivolous challenges that could overwhelm the review process.

Evaluation and Revision Process

Once the objection window closes, the NTA will undertake a comprehensive review of all submitted challenges. Subject matter experts will thoroughly examine each objection to assess its validity. If any challenge is found to be legitimate, the answer key will be revised accordingly before the final version is published.

This meticulous evaluation process is designed to ensure accuracy and fairness in the examination results. The final answer key, incorporating any necessary corrections, will serve as the basis for calculating the scores of all candidates who appeared in the re-examination.

Background of the Examination

The NEET UG 2026 examination has witnessed an unusual journey this year. The original exam was conducted on May 3, with its provisional answer key released on May 6. However, following certain developments, the examination was cancelled and a re-exam was scheduled. The re-examination took place on June 21, in which more than 20 lakh candidates participated across various test centres nationwide.

Today’s release of the provisional answer key for the re-exam marks a significant milestone in the evaluation process. Candidates are advised to carefully cross-check their responses with the answer key and submit any challenges before the deadline if they have legitimate concerns.

Important Points for Candidates

Students should keep their login credentials handy and ensure they have a stable internet connection while accessing the answer key. It is also advisable to take a screenshot of any objection submitted, along with the confirmation receipt, for future reference. Candidates should regularly check the official website for updates regarding the final answer key and result announcements.

The release of the answer key allows candidates to estimate their probable scores and plan their next steps accordingly. While the provisional answer key provides an early indication of performance, candidates should remember that the final result will be based on the validated answer key after all challenges have been reviewed.
