NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Scheduled for June

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the NEET UG 2026 examination will be conducted again in June. Candidates preparing for the medical entrance test will receive the complete schedule by May 20, ensuring they have adequate time to prepare for the re-examination. The test will be held in the traditional pen-and-paper format.

Timeline and Examination Window

According to official sources, the NTA plans to conduct the NEET UG re-examination after the CUET-UG, which is scheduled for May 31. The medical entrance test is expected to take place during the first or second week of June. This staggered timeline allows the examination body to manage both major tests efficiently without logistical conflicts.

Fresh Question Paper Development Process

In a significant departure from previous procedures, the question paper for the re-examination will be prepared by an entirely new team. Sources indicate that the previous team responsible for question paper creation will no longer handle this task. The new team will consist exclusively of individuals who have never been associated with the NTA in any capacity. Only a select group of senior NTA officials will have knowledge of the team members’ identities.

Additionally, the examination authority is exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for question selection. This technological approach aims to enhance the integrity and unpredictability of the question paper, making it more difficult for any external elements to anticipate or compromise the examination content.

Enhanced Security Measures for Paper Printing

The printing of the new question papers will be conducted under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs. This elevated security protocol reflects the government’s commitment to preventing any recurrence of paper leaks. Sources also reveal that authorities are considering on-the-spot printing solutions to further minimize security risks. The final decision regarding this approach will be made in the coming days, with confidentiality being of paramount importance throughout the process.

Commitment to Student Fairness

Abhishek Singh, the Director General of the NTA, has assured students and parents that there will be no compromise on the hard work and dedication of candidates. He acknowledged that the paper leak mafia has caused significant harm to millions of students who have been studying sincerely for the examination. Singh emphasized that robust systems will be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.

In a move to encourage transparency and cooperation, Singh also invited students and parents who possess any information regarding paper leaks or the availability of sample papers to share their knowledge via email. He assured that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential, protecting them from any potential repercussions.

Political Leaders Demand State-Level Admissions

In a related development, political leaders from southern India have raised concerns about the NEET examination system. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have both urged the central government to abolish NEET for medical admissions. They argue that states should be permitted to conduct admissions based on Class 12 examination results, allowing for a more localized and accessible approach to medical education enrollment.

These demands add to the ongoing debate surrounding the national medical entrance examination, with stakeholders calling for reforms that balance national standards with state-level autonomy in education policy.
