NMC Mandates Annual Disclosure Report for MBBS Seat Renewal
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a directive requiring all recognized medical colleges across India to submit their Annual Disclosure Report for the 2026-27 academic session. The deadline for submission has been fixed as May 30, 2026, and this report will serve as the basis for renewal of MBBS seat approvals in the upcoming session.
Official Directive from the Undergraduate Medical Education Board
The instruction comes through a public notice released by the NMC’s Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB). According to the commission, institutions holding a valid Letter of Permission (LoP) must upload all required information on the official portal, as specified under the MSMER 2023 regulations. This comprehensive data submission is a prerequisite for continuing MBBS programs in the next academic year.
Registration Requirement for AEBAS System
The commission has clarified that colleges which have not yet registered their AEBAS system with the NMC will not be able to access the portal. Login credentials have already been distributed to the designated nodal officers of respective institutions. Additionally, a detailed user manual explaining the complete submission procedure has been made available online for reference.
Accuracy and Verification Standards
In an important advisory, the NMC has cautioned medical colleges that all information uploaded on the portal must be entirely accurate and consistent with the records maintained by various boards of the commission. Once an application is submitted, no modifications or corrections will be permitted under any circumstances. The commission has also reserved the right to make the submitted data public if deemed necessary.
Application Fee Structure
Along with the report submission, colleges are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 3.54 lakh, which includes an 18 percent GST component. The NMC has specified that payments will only be accepted through the online payment gateway available on the official portal. No alternative payment methods will be entertained under any circumstances.
Strict Deadline with No Extension
The commission has emphasized that May 30, 2026, is the final and non-negotiable deadline for both report submission and fee payment. There will be absolutely no provision for deadline extension, and institutions failing to comply will face consequences regarding their seat renewal status.
Understanding the Annual Disclosure Report
The Annual Disclosure Report is a mandatory submission that every medical college must file each year. This document provides comprehensive information about various aspects of the institution, including:
- Faculty details and teaching staff qualifications
- Infrastructure and physical facilities
- Hospital amenities and clinical training resources
- Student enrollment numbers
- Academic resources and learning materials
Based on the information contained in these reports, the NMC evaluates whether each medical college continues to meet the established standards and criteria. This assessment directly influences the commission’s decision on whether to renew the MBBS seat allocations for the following academic year. The process ensures that medical education quality remains consistent across all recognized institutions in the country.
The directive reflects the NMC’s commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in medical education. By requiring detailed annual disclosures, the commission aims to monitor institutional performance continuously and identify any deficiencies that may need corrective action. Medical colleges are advised to begin preparing their reports well in advance to ensure timely and accurate submission before the specified deadline.
