NTA Announces Re-Exam for 3,765 CUET UG Candidates Affected by Technical Issues

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that a special re-examination will be conducted for 3,765 candidates who were unable to complete their CUET UG 2026 exam due to technical failures at designated test centers. This decision comes after disruptions were reported during the first shift of the examination held on May 30.

According to the official statement released on Saturday, several test centers experienced significant technical glitches that delayed the start of the examination. As a result, a considerable number of students faced prolonged waiting periods, leading to frustration and anxiety. In response to these circumstances, the agency has stepped in to ensure that no candidate is unfairly disadvantaged due to circumstances beyond their control.

Exam Day Overview and Candidate Turnout

Data released by the agency reveals that a total of 73,106 candidates arrived at various examination centers and successfully completed their biometric registration. Of this total, approximately 69,341 candidates—accounting for nearly 95 percent—were able to take the exam without any major interruption.

However, the remaining 3,765 candidates could not wait for the technical issues to be resolved. Despite having completed their biometric verification, these individuals left the examination halls without attempting the test. The delays proved to be too lengthy, prompting them to abandon the session altogether.

Second Opportunity for Affected Students

In a move aimed at fairness and transparency, the NTA has arranged a dedicated re-test for all affected candidates. This applies specifically to those who were physically present at the centers and had their biometric data recorded, yet were unable to proceed with the examination due to system malfunctions.

The agency has assured that the schedule for the re-examination, along with other essential details, will be communicated shortly. Candidates are advised to stay alert for official notifications regarding the new exam date and related instructions.

Guidance for Candidates and Support Channels

Students are strongly encouraged to regularly check the official NTA website and the dedicated CUET UG portal for the latest announcements and updates. All information pertaining to the re-exam, including admit card availability and center assignments, will be published through these platforms.

For those encountering difficulties with downloading admit cards or noticing discrepancies in the information printed on them, the NTA has established a support mechanism. Candidates can reach out to the help desk through the designated phone line or submit their concerns via email. The support team is equipped to address queries related to the re-examination process and resolve any administrative issues that may arise.

This proactive step by the testing agency underscores its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process while safeguarding the interests of students. By offering a second chance to those impacted by technical failures, the NTA aims to level the playing field and ensure that every candidate gets a fair opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities.
