The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has launched its Merit Scholarship program for the academic year 2025-26 under its foundation initiative. This scheme is designed to support talented students who face financial constraints yet aspire to excel in their professional careers. Selected candidates will receive an annual assistance of ₹48,000 to help ease their educational expenses.
A Transparent Process Through the MY Bharat Platform
This scholarship is being implemented in collaboration with the MY Bharat platform, an initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The integration ensures a transparent application and selection process, allowing students to receive benefits directly without any intermediaries. The primary objective is to reduce the financial burden on students from diverse social and economic backgrounds, enabling them to focus on their studies.
Courses Covered Under the Scholarship
The scholarship is available to students who have secured admission in the first year of a full-time regular program at a recognized institution. The eligible courses include:
- Engineering at the undergraduate level
- MBBS
- MBA
- Master’s degree in Geology or Geophysics
Financial Benefits and Disbursement
Students selected under this scheme will receive ₹48,000 annually, transferred directly to their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. This amount is intended to cover tuition fees and other academic expenses. The financial support will continue for the entire duration of the course, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic performance each year.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet specific requirements to apply for this scholarship. The key conditions are outlined below:
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
- The candidate’s age should not exceed 30 years.
- The student must be enrolled in the first year of an eligible professional course.
- A minimum of 60% marks in Class 12 or graduation (depending on the course) is mandatory.
- Family income must fall within the prescribed limit, which may vary according to category.
- The applicant should not be receiving any other major government or private scholarship.
Reserved seats are allocated for students from all categories, including SC, ST, OBC, General, and EWS. Additionally, special provisions have been made to encourage the education of female students through dedicated reservations.

The application procedure is entirely online, with the deadline set for May 15, 2026. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Interested candidates can follow these steps to apply:
