Significance of Phulera Dooj

Phulera Dooj is regarded as one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. It is often referred to as an Abujh Muhurat, meaning a time when auspicious ceremonies such as weddings, housewarming rituals, and mundan (first hair-cutting) can be performed without consulting the panchang. This festival is deeply connected with the divine love of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani. It is believed that on this day, they played Holi with flowers, making it especially favourable for fostering love and harmony in relationships.

In Mathura and Vrindavan, the Holi festivities begin from this day. Temples are adorned with flowers, and devotees play Holi with flower petals. According to astrological beliefs, those facing delays in marriage or experiencing discord in married life find the prayers and charitable acts performed on this day particularly beneficial. Additionally, Phulera Dooj marks the end of winter and welcomes the spring season. Due to its positive energy, it is also considered highly favourable for starting new businesses or ventures.
