President Murmu Engages with Tribal Students at Rashtrapati Bhavan

On the occasion of the National Tribal Pride Festival, President Droupadi Murmu met with nearly 200 tribal students at Rashtrapati Bhavan in a special interactive session. These students are beneficiaries of various scholarship programmes run by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. During the session, the President listened to their experiences, praised their accomplishments, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence through education.

Government Efforts to Empower Tribal Youth

The Government of India has been consistently working to uplift young people from tribal communities. Scholarships serve not merely as financial assistance but as a means to give wings to ambition. They open up a world of possibilities for talented youth who might otherwise be held back by a lack of resources.

President Murmu expressed delight at learning that many of these young individuals have pursued higher education and even had the opportunity to study at universities abroad. She noted that their achievements, achieved despite challenging circumstances, stand as a source of inspiration for millions of young Indians.

Development Requires Participation from All Sections

The President emphasised that those who have progressed should never forget the communities they come from. While personal success is commendable, struggle remains an integral part of life. Those who move ahead must remember their roots and make every effort to bring others along with them.

She urged people to take a step forward and extend a helping hand to those who are at a similar level or slightly behind. The nation’s progress depends on the contribution of every community. Comprehensive development can only be achieved when all classes, societies, and sections of people advance together. Only then can India become a socially, economically, and culturally strong and developed nation.

A Call to Preserve Identity and Heritage

President Murmu stressed the importance of never forgetting one’s identity. She recalled that ancestors from tribal communities made great sacrifices to protect their culture and identity. Figures like Bhagwan Birsa Munda represent countless unsung heroes who gave their lives for this country and its soil, many of whom do not find mention in history books.

While celebrating the Tribal Pride Festival is a positive step, the President reminded everyone that it is equally important to remember the struggles that preceded this joy. Happiness, she noted, follows struggle. It is the responsibility of the youth to stay connected to the mainstream of development while cherishing and honouring their heritage.

She appealed to young people from tribal communities to remain connected with their people. The youth should move forward with pride in their heritage, armed with modern education and technology. This, she concluded, is the path toward building a strong and self-reliant India.
