Punjab Launches Mission Pragati to Offer Free Coaching for Competitive Exams

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Sunday that the state government is taking decisive steps to equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed for upcoming competitive examinations. Through the newly launched Mission Pragati, students will receive complimentary academic instruction as well as physical training, ensuring a well-rounded preparation experience.

Supporting Students Who Cannot Afford Expensive Coaching

While interacting with students at the district library, Mann emphasized that this initiative was created specifically to assist talented individuals from rural areas who lack the financial means to enroll in costly coaching centers. The program aims to level the playing field by giving every aspiring candidate a fair chance to succeed.

The Chief Minister further revealed that free coaching sessions for examinations conducted by the Service Selection Board (SSB), as well as those related to police and armed forces recruitment, have already commenced at the district library. This marks the beginning of a broader effort to make quality preparation accessible to all.

First Batch Enrolls 40 Students

The inaugural batch of Mission Pragati has already enrolled 40 students. Alongside classroom-based learning, participants are receiving physical conditioning sessions led by experienced trainers from the Punjab Police. This dual approach ensures that candidates are prepared both mentally and physically for the demands of competitive selection processes.

Mann also noted that students who become library members will enjoy complimentary access to books and study materials, further reducing the financial burden on aspirants. The program operates using existing infrastructure, which keeps operational costs minimal while maximizing the reach of its benefits.

A Peer-Driven Mentorship Model

One of the distinctive features of Mission Pragati is its reliance on the principle of “youth helping youth.” Mentors within the program are individuals who have themselves successfully navigated competitive examinations in the past. Their firsthand experience provides invaluable guidance to current candidates who are preparing for similar challenges.

The initiative has garnered support from a wide range of stakeholders, including educators, universities, police officials, athletes, and students themselves. Rooted in the philosophy that “no one should be left behind,” the mission seeks to create equal opportunities for all young people and boost their representation in government employment.

Beyond Academics: A Holistic Approach to Youth Development

The Chief Minister reiterated that the Punjab government’s vision extends beyond traditional classroom education. Through comprehensive educational reforms, the administration aims to prepare young people not just for examinations, but for meaningful careers and personal growth. Mission Pragati represents a significant step toward ensuring that the state’s youth are empowered with the tools they need to build successful futures.

By combining academic support, physical training, and mentorship from experienced professionals, this program addresses multiple dimensions of exam preparation. The government’s commitment to utilizing existing resources efficiently demonstrates a sustainable approach to public welfare initiatives.

As the program continues to evolve, it is expected to expand its reach and potentially serve as a model for other states looking to support their student populations. For now, the focus remains on delivering tangible results for the first cohort of candidates and refining the program based on initial outcomes.
