Rajasthan Board to Introduce Biannual Class 10 Exams Starting 2027
Following in the footsteps of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE) has announced a significant overhaul of its examination system. Beginning in the 2027 academic session, the board will conduct Class 10 board examinations twice a year, a move designed to alleviate academic pressure on students and provide them with additional opportunities to improve their performance.
Proposal Submitted to State Government for Approval
The decision was formally communicated by the board through an official social media announcement. During a press conference held on March 11, the board secretary confirmed that the proposal for the dual-examination format has been fully prepared. The draft has now been forwarded to the Rajasthan state government for review and necessary recommendations. The final implementation will only proceed after the government completes its evaluation of the proposal and provides its official consent.
Objectives Behind the New Examination Format
The primary motivation behind this structural change is to reduce the psychological stress that students typically experience during a single high-stakes annual examination. By offering two separate exam sessions within a single academic year, the board aims to give learners a second chance to achieve better scores. This approach is expected to encourage a more consistent study routine and help students manage their preparation more effectively without the burden of a one-time, make-or-break assessment.

While the announcement has generated considerable interest among students and parents, the board has clarified that several crucial details are still being finalized. Information regarding the marking scheme, the methodology for calculating the final aggregate score from the two exam sessions, and other procedural aspects will be disclosed by the board in the near future. Class 10 Results Expected by March 20
In the meantime, the board is preparing to release the results for the current year’s Class 10 examinations. According to recent reports, the results for the 2026 secondary exams are likely to be declared on or before March 20, 2026. However, the board has not yet confirmed the exact date and time for the announcement. Students are strongly encouraged to regularly monitor the official RBSE website for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding result declarations and other academic notices.
Massive Student Participation in Current Exams
This year has seen a substantial number of candidates registering for the board examinations. Official data released by the board reveals that a total of 10,68,078 students have enrolled for the Class 10 (Secondary) examinations. Additionally, the Class 12 (Senior Secondary) exams have attracted 9,09,087 registered students. The board is also conducting the Praveshika examination for 7,811 candidates and the Senior Upadhyay examination for 4,122 applicants. These figures underscore the immense scale of the examinations managed by the Rajasthan Board each year.
