President Murmu Calls on Universities to Blend Indian Heritage with Modern Learning

At the 36th convocation ceremony of Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya (RDVV) in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, President Droupadi Murmu delivered a powerful message emphasizing the dual responsibility of higher education institutions. She urged universities to not only impart contemporary knowledge but also to instill a deep appreciation for Indian culture and traditions among students.

The President stressed that educational establishments carry the important duty of nurturing young minds with both modern expertise and cultural rootedness. She noted that this balance is essential for producing well-rounded individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society while staying connected to their heritage.

A Tribute to Rani Durgavati’s Legacy

Speaking at the university named after the legendary queen, President Murmu paid rich tributes to Rani Durgavati, describing her as an enduring symbol of sacrifice, perseverance, and commitment. The Queen of Gondwana, as she is historically remembered, continues to inspire generations with her remarkable leadership and valour.

The President highlighted that Rani Durgavati remains a significant source of inspiration for women’s empowerment. Her life story demonstrates how determination and courage can overcome formidable challenges, making her a timeless role model for young women across the country.

Focus on Inclusive Growth

In her address, President Murmu also underscored the importance of inclusive development. She emphasized that bringing forward those who have been left behind in the race for progress and integrating them into the mainstream should be a priority for educational institutions and society alike.

The convocation ceremony served as a platform for the President to reiterate that education should be a transformative force, one that bridges gaps and creates opportunities for all sections of society. She called upon universities to actively work towards this vision of equitable growth.

Her remarks at the RDVV convocation reflect a broader national conversation about the role of education in preserving cultural identity while embracing modernity. The President’s message resonates with the growing emphasis on integrating indigenous knowledge systems and traditional wisdom into contemporary academic frameworks.

As institutions across the country look to redefine their educational approaches, President Murmu’s words serve as a guiding principle, reminding universities that their mandate extends beyond academic excellence to include cultural preservation and social responsibility.
