Tamil Nadu Class 12 Results 2026: State Records 95.03% Pass Rate
The Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu (TNDGE), officially released the Class 12 board exam results for 2026 on May 8. The announcement was made during a press conference led by the School Education Minister, following which the online scorecard portal was made live for students across the state.
Candidates who appeared for the higher secondary examinations can now access their results on the official TNDGE website by entering their registration number and date of birth. Alongside the results, provisional mark sheets have also been made available for download, allowing students to review their subject-wise performance at their convenience.
Overall Performance Highlights
This year, a total of 7,91,654 students registered for the Class 12 board examinations, out of which 7,53,694 successfully cleared the exams. The overall pass percentage across the state stands at an impressive 95.03%, reflecting consistent academic standards maintained by the board.
Among the various streams, the Science group recorded a pass percentage of 96.90%, while the Commerce stream followed with 92.67% of students successfully clearing their examinations.
Girls Continue to Outperform Boys
Female students have once again demonstrated superior academic performance compared to their male counterparts. Girls achieved a pass percentage of 97%, while boys recorded a pass rate of 93.19%. This marks yet another year where female candidates have taken the lead in board examinations, reinforcing a trend that has been consistent over recent years.
District-Wise Performance
Looking at the district-level breakdown, Erode district emerged as the top performer in the state with an outstanding pass percentage of 98.87%. Sivaganga district secured the second position with a pass rate of 98.05%. The capital city, Chennai, ranked 20th among all districts with a pass percentage of 95.43%.
The education department also reported that out of 7,536 higher secondary schools across the state, a total of 2,639 private institutions and 489 government schools achieved a perfect 100% pass rate this year.
