WhatsApp has rolled out a new username feature designed to enhance user privacy, allowing individuals to chat without sharing their personal phone numbers. Although the feature is expected to be fully available to everyone by the end of the year, users can already reserve a preferred username within the app’s settings. If you have already selected a username and wish to delete or change it, the process is straightforward.
Steps to Delete or Change Your WhatsApp Username
To remove your current username or replace it with a new one, follow these simple steps:
- Open WhatsApp: Launch the app on your smartphone.
- Access Your Profile: Tap the profile icon located in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Select Your Username: At the top of the profile page, you will see your current username. Tap on it.
- Press the Edit Icon: Click the edit icon situated at the top-right corner of the screen.
- Modify or Remove: You will now see options to either delete your username entirely or type a new one to replace it.
Note: Currently, this feature is only available on the mobile app and cannot be accessed through WhatsApp Web.
