UGC Sets June 30 Deadline for Uploading UG and PG Student Records

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a directive requiring all universities across the country to upload undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) student records by June 30. This mandate applies to all higher education institutions and covers academic data for the 2025-26 session.

Mandatory Upload of Academic Records

In an official communication addressed to all states, UGC Secretary Professor Shyama Rath has instructed all credit-awarding institutions to upload academic records pertaining to the 2025 examination year. This includes mark sheets, grade sheets, and associated credit data, all of which must be submitted to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) platform before the deadline.

The UGC has made it clear that the upload window will close after June 30, and no further submissions will be accepted on the platform following this date. Institutions are therefore urged to complete the process well ahead of the cutoff to avoid any last-minute complications.

Amendment Process for Existing Records

For records that have already been uploaded, any corrections or modifications will only be permitted through the standard procedures established by the ABC platform. These amendments must strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines and cannot be processed outside the designated framework.

Alignment with National Education Policy 2020

This initiative is part of the broader objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the promotion of integrated and multidisciplinary learning. The policy encourages students to pursue subjects of their choice beyond their core academic curriculum, fostering a more holistic educational experience.

Under this framework, students have the flexibility to study any preferred subjects at any time, in addition to their regular coursework. The marks obtained from these additional studies are converted into credits and deposited in the Academic Bank of Credits for future use.

Key Points for Institutions

  • All UG and PG student records for the 2025 examination year must be uploaded by June 30
  • The ABC platform will cease accepting new uploads after the specified deadline
  • Corrections to previously submitted records will follow established protocols only
  • The initiative supports lifelong learning opportunities for students across disciplines

The move is designed to create a comprehensive digital repository of student academic achievements, enabling seamless credit transfers and greater mobility within the higher education system. By centralizing credit data, the UGC aims to streamline academic record-keeping and enhance transparency across institutions nationwide.

Institutions that fail to comply with the directive within the stipulated timeframe may face consequences, as the UGC has emphasized the mandatory nature of this requirement. All universities and colleges are expected to coordinate with their respective examination departments to ensure timely and accurate submission of student data.

This systematic approach to academic record management is expected to benefit students significantly, particularly those who wish to pursue interdisciplinary studies or transfer between institutions. The credit accumulation system provides a flexible pathway for learners to build their academic portfolios over time, aligned with the progressive vision of NEP 2020.
