UGC NET June 2026: Re-Exam Scheduled for Jalandhar Candidates After Technical Failure
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a re-examination for candidates affected by a technical malfunction at a designated UGC NET exam center in Punjab. The issue occurred during the first shift of the June 2026 session, preventing some aspirants from either starting or completing their test.
The disruption took place on 22 June 2026 at the CT Group of Institutions in Jalandhar. According to the official notice, the problem was reported to the NTA by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the agency responsible for managing the digital exam infrastructure. TCS confirmed that the glitch was isolated to this particular venue, with no similar complaints emerging from any other examination center across the country.
Who Is Eligible for the Re-Exam?
The NTA has specified that only those candidates who were physically present at the CT Group of Institutions on the day of the exam and were unable to attempt or complete the paper due to the technical issue will be allowed to sit for the re-test. This decision has been made to ensure fairness and to protect the interests of the affected students, offering them an equal opportunity to perform without the disadvantage caused by circumstances beyond their control.
Re-Exam Date and Venue
The re-examination is scheduled to take place on 5 July 2026 at 3:00 PM. It will be conducted at the exact same location—the CT Group of Institutions in Jalandhar—where the original disruption occurred. This arrangement ensures that candidates are familiar with the environment and can reach the venue without confusion.
National Exam Status Unchanged
It has been clarified that the UGC NET June 2026 examination has not been cancelled nationwide. The technical failure was confined to a single center in Jalandhar, and consequently, the re-test is limited strictly to the affected candidates from Shift-I at that venue. All other examinees who took the test successfully will have their results processed as per the normal schedule.
Updated Admit Cards to Be Issued
Eligible candidates will receive fresh admit cards ahead of the re-examination. These documents will contain the revised date, reporting time, venue instructions, and other essential guidelines required for the day of the test. The NTA has advised all affected students to regularly check the official website for updates regarding their admit cards and any other important announcements.
