NTA Issues Key Advisory for UGC NET June 2026 Applicants

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important advisory for candidates planning to appear in the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) for the June 2026 session. With the registration window closing soon, the agency has urged all aspirants to complete their application process within the stipulated timeframe and follow the guidelines carefully.

Registration Deadline and Application Window

The online registration process for UGC NET June 2026 began on April 29 and will remain open until May 20, 2026, up to 11:50 PM. Candidates who have not yet submitted their applications are strongly advised to complete the process at the earliest to avoid last-minute technical glitches or delays.

The examination is scheduled to be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode between June 22 and June 30. The exam city information is expected to be released by June 10, while admit cards will be made available by June 15, 2026.

Mandatory Fee Payment and Confirmation

According to the advisory, candidates must fill out the online application form accurately and ensure that the prescribed examination fee is paid successfully. Only those applicants who complete the fee payment will be considered to have a valid and complete application. Incomplete applications or those with pending fee payments will not be accepted under any circumstances.

After successful submission and fee payment, candidates are advised to download and save the confirmation page for future reference. This document may be required at various stages of the examination process, including document verification and counselling.

No Corrections Allowed After Fee Submission

One of the key points highlighted in the advisory is that no modifications to the application form will be permitted once the examination fee has been paid. Therefore, candidates must exercise extreme caution while filling in their details.

Applicants should carefully verify all information before final submission, particularly the following fields:

  • Candidate’s full name
  • Father’s and mother’s name
  • Social category
  • PwD (Person with Disability) status
  • Learning disability status
  • Requirement of a scribe
  • Selected subject
  • Preferred examination city

Any error in these details could lead to complications later in the process, including issues with admit card generation or result processing.

New Subjects Added to the Syllabus

In a significant update, the UGC has expanded its list of subjects for the June 2026 examination. Statistics has been added to the existing list of subjects, while Forestry has been included in the additional subjects category. Candidates interested in these disciplines can access the detailed syllabi for the newly added subjects on the official UGC website.

This expansion offers fresh opportunities for candidates from these academic backgrounds to appear for the national eligibility test and pursue teaching positions or research fellowships in their respective fields.

Important Reminders for Candidates

The NTA has advised all aspirants to regularly visit the official website for the latest updates and notifications regarding the examination. Candidates should stay informed about any changes in schedule, exam day instructions, or other important announcements.

Since the application deadline is fast approaching, experts recommend that candidates do not wait until the final day to submit their forms. Early submission allows ample time to rectify any issues that may arise during the application process and ensures a hassle-free experience.

For the June 2026 cycle, the examination will be conducted across 85 subjects, catering to a wide range of academic disciplines. With the addition of new subjects, the UGC continues to broaden the scope of the test to include more fields of study.

Candidates are also reminded to keep their login credentials and other essential documents handy throughout the application and examination process. Proper planning and careful attention to the guidelines will help ensure a smooth experience from registration to the final result.
