Uttar Pradesh Board Examinations Commence Tomorrow: Over 52 Lakh Students to Appear
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is set to begin its High School (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) board examinations starting February 18, 2026. This year, more than 52 lakh students across the state will participate in these crucial academic assessments. The board has established comprehensive arrangements and issued detailed protocols to ensure the examinations proceed smoothly, transparently, and without any malpractices.
Registration Numbers and Examination Centers
According to official board statistics, a total of 52,30,297 candidates have successfully registered for the upcoming examinations. The breakdown reveals that Class 10 has 27,50,945 registered students, comprising 14,38,682 boys and 13,12,263 girls. For Class 12, the total stands at 24,79,352 students, with 13,03,012 boys and 11,76,340 girls. The examinations will be conducted across 8,033 designated centers spread throughout the state.
Examination Schedule and Timing
The theoretical examinations for both Class 10 and Class 12 will run from February 18 to March 12, 2026. The board has scheduled the exams in two distinct shifts to accommodate the large number of candidates:
- First Shift: 8:30 AM to 11:45 AM
- Second Shift: 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM
Candidates are advised to arrive at their respective examination centers at least one hour before the scheduled commencement of their exam.
Dedicated Control Room for Monitoring
To ensure the seamless execution of the examination process, authorities have established a specialized control room at the camp office of the Director of Secondary Education. This centralized facility will conduct online monitoring of district-level activities throughout the examination period and facilitate regular reviews of the proceedings. The control room is designed to coordinate law and order situations, oversee examination center operations, and disseminate essential instructions as needed.
The control room is scheduled to be inaugurated on February 17, 2026, by Gulab Devi, the Minister of State for Secondary Education. This infrastructure will play a pivotal role in maintaining oversight and addressing any emerging concerns during the examination window.
Key Guidelines Issued for Examination Centers
The board has released a comprehensive set of directives that examination centers must strictly adhere to. These guidelines aim to maintain the integrity and fairness of the examination process:
- In cases where discrepancies are found in a candidate’s subject or gender details, corrections may be made with the approval of the District Inspector of Schools, based on documentary evidence.
- Strict prohibition on mobile phones and electronic devices for all individuals present at examination centers, including teachers, staff, and candidates. The only exceptions are the Center Administrator and the Static Magistrate. Carrying mobile devices into strong rooms is completely banned.
- Female candidates must not be subjected to frisking by male invigilators or officials under any circumstances.
- No staff member will be permitted within the examination center premises without proper identification credentials.
- Answer booklets must be stamped with a unique center code on the main page. The signature and designation stamp of the Center Administrator should not be applied.
- Before each examination session begins, a formal announcement will be made in every room stating that answer booklets must not contain any money or inappropriate materials. Violations will be treated as use of unfair means.
- No student should be denied their admit card at the school level due to procedural irregularities.
- All centers must ensure adequate furniture, proper lighting, clean drinking water, and functional restroom facilities are available.
Important Instructions for Students on Exam Day
Candidates appearing for the examinations must follow these essential protocols to avoid any complications:
- A printed hard copy of the admit card is mandatory and must be carried to the examination center.
- Students arriving late will not be granted entry into the examination hall.
- Leaving the examination room before the conclusion of the exam is strictly prohibited.
- Electronic devices including mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, tablets, calculators, and other gadgets are entirely banned.
- Students found engaging in malpractice will be immediately disqualified from continuing the examination.
The board has emphasized that these measures are designed to create a fair and disciplined examination environment for all 52 lakh students. Authorities have urged candidates to remain calm, focused, and well-prepared as they approach this important milestone in their academic journey.
