UP Board Issues Cyber Fraud Warning Ahead of 2026 Results

As students and families across Uttar Pradesh await the announcement of the 2026 high school and intermediate examination results, the state’s secondary education board has issued a critical advisory urging everyone to stay vigilant against rising cyber fraud attempts. The warning comes in response to a growing pattern of fraudulent activities targeting anxious students during the results season.

Fraudsters Preying on Student Anxiety

According to officials from the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad in Prayagraj, cyber criminals are expected to intensify their efforts in the coming days. These fraudsters typically contact students through phone calls, text messages, or social media platforms, falsely promising to improve their exam scores in exchange for money. In many instances, they go so far as to claim they have direct access to the board’s central database, making their schemes appear more convincing.

A particularly concerning tactic involves impersonation of board officials. Scammers have been known to use the names of actual council employees to lend false credibility to their claims. This deceptive approach has proven effective in previous years, which is precisely why the board is now taking proactive steps to warn the public.

Legal Action Guaranteed Against Offenders

The board has made it unequivocally clear that such criminal activities will not be tolerated. Working in coordination with the Uttar Pradesh Police, the council has committed to pursuing strict legal action against anyone found engaging in these fraudulent practices. Offenders will face prosecution under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, both of which carry serious penalties for cyber crimes.

Essential Safety Guidelines for Students and Parents

To protect themselves from falling victim to these scams, students and their families should adhere to the following precautions:

  • Never trust unsolicited calls, messages, or emails claiming to offer score improvements or special favors
  • Remember that the board never contacts students individually with such offers
  • Avoid sharing personal information, including roll numbers, bank details, or other sensitive data with unknown callers
  • Be wary of any communication that creates a sense of urgency or pressure to act quickly
  • Verify any suspicious claims by contacting official board channels directly

How to Report Suspicious Activity

Anyone who receives a fraudulent call or message should take immediate action. The board advises recording the communication details and reporting the incident to the District Inspector of Schools in their respective districts without delay. Additionally, complaints can be lodged with the national cyber crime helpline at 1930, where trained professionals can assist with the matter and initiate appropriate investigations.

Officials emphasize that staying informed and cautious is the best defense against these criminal schemes. By following the board’s guidance and remaining alert, students can protect themselves and focus on what truly matters as they await their results.
