Uttar Pradesh Government to Honor Madrassa Board Toppers

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans to recognize and reward students who performed exceptionally well in the 2026 Madrassa Board examinations. A formal ceremony will take place in Lucknow, where the top ten students from both the Munshi/Maulvi (secondary) and Alim (higher secondary) categories will be felicitated for their achievements.

According to official announcements, the top three students in each category will additionally receive certificates of merit along with tablet devices. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held during the first week of June, marking a significant step toward modernizing madrassa education and ensuring that students from minority communities have access to better opportunities.

Top Ten List Includes Equal Representation

A total of 80,933 students registered for the Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Board examinations in 2026. Of these, 63,211 candidates actually appeared for the tests, and 55,788 students successfully passed. The merit lists for both the Munshi/Maulvi and Alim categories feature five boys and five girls each among the top ten positions.

In the Munshi/Maulvi category, Mohammed Wasim from Chandauli secured the first position, followed by Mohammed Qasim Ali from Mirzapur in second place and Shaima Parveen from Gorakhpur in third. The Alim category saw an impressive sweep by female students, with Jumi Farin and Shaista Parveen from Varanasi taking the top two spots and Ummul Khair from Amroha finishing third.

All these meritorious students will be honored with certificates during the upcoming ceremony in Lucknow.

Digital Boost for Academic Excellence

State Minister Danish Azad Ansari emphasized that madrassa education should not remain merely a formality. He noted that most students enrolled in these institutions come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and providing them with quality, modern education is their fundamental right.

The minister explained that the decision to award tablets to the top three students in each category is aimed at supporting their continued academic journey. The devices will enable these students to access digital learning resources and pursue higher studies with greater ease.

Examination Details and Participation

The Madrassa Board examinations were conducted in two phases between February 9 and February 14. The first phase covered the Munshi and Maulvi examinations, while the second phase included the Alim, Arabic, and Persian subjects. A network of 277 examination centers was established across the state to facilitate the smooth conduct of these tests.

This initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of education within the madrassa system and creating pathways for students to build brighter futures. By recognizing academic excellence and providing tangible support through technology, the administration aims to encourage more students to strive for higher achievement in their studies.

The felicitation program represents a broader effort to integrate madrassa education with mainstream academic standards while respecting its traditional foundations. The provision of tablets to top performers signals a forward-looking approach that combines recognition of merit with practical tools for future success.
