UP NEET PG Counselling 2025 Round 3 Postponed

The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, has officially postponed the NEET PG Round 3 counselling for state quota seats until further notice. The decision comes as a direct result of delays in the commencement of the All India Quota (AIQ) NEET PG Round 3 counselling process, which is managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

Official Notification and Reason for Delay

According to the official order issued by DGME Uttar Pradesh, the third round of NEET PG 2025 counselling under the AIQ category has not yet been initiated by MCC, New Delhi. Since the state-level counselling process is typically aligned with the national schedule, authorities have decided to pause the UP NEET PG counselling until the AIQ process gets underway.

The notification explicitly states that the postponement is necessary because the AIQ NEET PG 2025 third phase has not been launched by MCC. As a result, candidates awaiting state quota seat allocation will need to wait for further instructions before the next steps are announced.

What Caused the Delay in NEET PG Counselling?

The last major update from MCC regarding NEET PG counselling 2025 was the extension of the resignation deadline for candidates who had been allotted seats in Round 2. This deadline was pushed to December 30. Following that announcement, no clear communication has been issued regarding the timeline or schedule for Round 3 counselling.

According to the revised NEET PG counselling schedule released on December 17, the AIQ Round 3 process was expected to be completed by January 2. Additionally, data for joined candidates was supposed to be submitted by January 12. However, even after 21 days have passed since the schedule was published, the AIQ Round 3 counselling has not yet started, leaving both candidates and state authorities in a state of uncertainty.

Impact of Seat Additions on the Counselling Timeline

One of the key factors disrupting the counselling schedule this year has been the recent addition of postgraduate seats across the country. Following a decision by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the addition of 171 PG seats across approximately 27 medical colleges nationwide.

This development has forced MCC to repeatedly reschedule and extend the NEET PG counselling timeline. The ongoing process of adding, removing, and approving seats has created significant complications, ultimately delaying the entire counselling cycle. As authorities work through these administrative adjustments, candidates are advised to regularly check official updates for the latest information on the revised schedule.

For now, all stakeholders are awaiting clarity from MCC regarding the start date for AIQ Round 3 counselling. Once that process begins, the state-level counselling in Uttar Pradesh is expected to resume accordingly. Candidates are encouraged to stay patient and monitor official channels for announcements.
