Uttar Pradesh Government Sets April 25 Deadline for Full RTE Admissions

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued strict directives to education officials regarding the complete enrollment of eligible underprivileged children under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the academic session 2026-27. All district magistrates and basic education officers have been instructed to ensure 100% admission of qualified candidates by April 25, 2026.

Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, the Additional Chief Secretary for Basic and Secondary Education, communicated these firm instructions to all district-level authorities. The directive emphasizes that no eligible child should be left without a seat under the RTE quota, and officials are expected to complete the process within the specified timeframe without exception.

Current Enrollment Status Falls Short of Target

As of now, only 1,08,866 children have been admitted against the total allocation of 1,95,740 seats under the RTE scheme. This means a significant number of students are yet to be enrolled, prompting the government to accelerate the admission drive.

Officials have been directed to prepare comprehensive lists of all children who have not yet received admission and ensure their immediate enrollment. The instructions also call for close coordination with concerned schools to prevent any procedural delays that could hinder the admission process.

Stringent Monitoring and Accountability Measures

The state government has mandated rigorous daily monitoring of admission progress across all districts. Education departments and district administrations are required to review enrollment figures regularly and address any bottlenecks promptly.

Authorities have been made explicitly aware that negligence or laxity at any level will result in severe consequences. The government has made it clear that responsible officials will face direct disciplinary action if they fail to meet the deadline or show any lack of seriousness in executing their duties.

This decisive approach underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that every economically weaker section (EWS) and disadvantaged group child receives access to quality education through private schools under the RTE quota. The directive aims to eliminate any barriers that may prevent eligible students from securing their rightful place in the education system.

School authorities and education officials are now working against time to process pending applications, verify documents, and complete the admission formalities before the April 25 cutoff. The government’s firm stance reflects its priority on inclusive education and equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their economic background.
