WhatsApp Prepares Built-In Message Scheduling for All Users
For anyone who has ever set an alarm just to send a birthday wish at exactly midnight or a reminder at 9 AM, relief may soon be on the way. WhatsApp is developing a native feature that will allow users to compose messages in advance and choose a specific date and time for delivery. Once the scheduled moment arrives, the message will be sent automatically—no separate reminders or manual effort required.
According to recent findings from beta testing, the feature has been spotted in the latest iOS beta version (26.7.10.72). This suggests that WhatsApp is actively working on integrating message scheduling directly into the app, moving beyond the current workarounds that users rely on today.
How the New Scheduling Tool Will Work
The upcoming functionality is expected to be straightforward. Users will simply:
- Type their message within a chat
- Select a preferred date and time
- Confirm the schedule
Once scheduled, the message will remain in a queue within the app until the chosen moment arrives. At that point, it will be dispatched automatically to the recipient. This eliminates the need for external reminder apps or the risk of forgetting to send an important message at the right time.
Full Control Over Scheduled Messages
WhatsApp is reportedly adding a dedicated section within the chat info area where users can view and manage all their pending scheduled messages. This management panel is expected to offer several useful options:
- Edit the content of a scheduled message before it is sent
- Delete a scheduled message entirely
- If a message is deleted before delivery, the recipient will not receive any notification about it
The feature is expected to work in both personal one-on-one chats and group conversations, giving users flexibility across different types of communication.
A Different Tool from the Business Version
It is important to note that this new feature will be distinct from the existing scheduling capabilities available through WhatsApp Business accounts. Currently, business users can schedule broadcast messages, but that service is paid and primarily designed for marketing purposes. The upcoming tool, by contrast, appears to be aimed at regular users and is likely to be offered free of charge. This would make it far more accessible and practical for everyday personal use.
When Can Users Expect the Update?
At this stage, the scheduling feature remains under development and has not yet been released to beta testers. As a result, it may take several months before it reaches all users worldwide. However, the active progress being made indicates that WhatsApp is taking this long-requested functionality seriously. If and when it launches, it could become one of the most practical updates the platform has ever introduced.
The move reflects a broader trend in messaging apps, where user demand for greater control over timing and delivery is growing. By building this feature natively, WhatsApp aims to keep users within its ecosystem rather than forcing them to rely on third-party scheduling tools or manual reminders.
