The Sacred Timing of Padmini Ekadashi in 2026

In the Hindu calendar, the Ekadashi that falls during the extra month, or Adhik Maas, carries profound spiritual significance. This year, the Padmini Ekadashi of the Adhik Maas will be observed on May 27. Devotees mark this day with fasting and worship, believing it to be an exceptionally auspicious occasion for seeking blessings from Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.

The extra month, known as Purushottam Maas or Adhik Maas, occurs once every few years to align the lunar and solar calendars. The Ekadashi that appears within this period is called Padmini Ekadashi, and its importance is considered many times greater than that of regular Ekadashis. Observing this fast with sincere devotion is said to bring relief from all kinds of hardships and bestow happiness, peace, and prosperity upon one’s life.

Padmini Ekadashi Date and Auspicious Timings for 2026

According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi tithi of the Shukla Paksha during the Jyeshtha Adhik Maas begins on May 26 at 5:11 AM and concludes on May 27 at 6:22 AM. Based on the Udaya tithi, which considers the sunrise time, the Padmini Ekadashi fast will be observed on May 27.

Key Muhurats for Padmini Ekadashi Puja

Performing the puja during specific auspicious windows enhances the spiritual benefits. Here are the key muhurats for May 27:

  • Brahma Muhurat: 4:03 AM to 4:44 AM
  • Labh-Unnati Muhurat (Profit and Progress): 5:26 AM to 7:08 AM
  • Amrit-Sarvottam Muhurat (Nectar and Best Time): 7:08 AM to 8:52 AM
  • Shubh-Uttam Muhurat (Auspicious and Excellent Time): 10:35 AM to 12:18 PM

Worshipping Lord Vishnu during these favorable time slots is believed to multiply the positive outcomes of the rituals.

The Spiritual Importance of Padmini Ekadashi Vrat

In Hinduism, the Ekadashi tithi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Fasting on this day is considered a powerful practice for cleansing sins and progressing toward liberation, or moksha. The Padmini Ekadashi, specifically, holds a unique place because it only occurs during the extra month. Religious texts emphasize that observing this fast with proper rituals brings blessings equivalent to visiting the Vaikuntha realm, the celestial abode of Lord Vishnu.

Devotees believe that by worshipping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi with devotion on this day, they invite divine grace into their lives. This grace is said to remove obstacles, ensure mental peace, and increase wealth and abundance. The combination of the Ekadashi tithi and the Adhik Maas creates an especially potent spiritual opportunity.

How to Observe the Padmini Ekadashi Fast

Those who keep this fast typically wake up early during the Brahma Muhurat, take a holy bath, and set up a clean space for worship. The puja involves offering flowers, incense, lamps, and food items such as fruits and sweets to an idol or image of Lord Vishnu, often along with Goddess Lakshmi. Reciting Vishnu Sahasranama or other sacred hymns is also common. The fast is traditionally broken the next day after sunrise, following the proper parana timings.

The spiritual rewards of this fast are said to be immense. It is believed that sincere observance not only purifies the mind and body but also strengthens one’s connection with the divine, leading to a life filled with harmony and prosperity.
