CBSE Selection Process Under Scrutiny After Teen Blogger’s Allegations

A fresh controversy has emerged around the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) selection procedure, following claims made by a 17-year-old student blogger. The allegations have sparked political debate and renewed calls for an independent judicial inquiry into how the board awarded a significant contract.

Teen Blogger’s Claims Spark Fresh Dispute

Sarthak Siddhant, a 17-year-old student, has alleged in a blog post that CBSE altered its selection criteria in a manner that unfairly benefited one bidder—COEMPT—while disadvantaging another, TCS. According to Siddhant, changes were made to the Request for Proposal (RFP) document that tilted the process in favor of COEMPT.

The blogger claims to have cited official CBSE documents to support his assertions. His post suggests that the modifications to the RFP were not procedural but substantive, potentially influencing the final outcome of the tender process. These revelations have added a new layer of complexity to an already contentious issue.

Rahul Gandhi Demands Answers and Probe

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has amplified the matter by sharing Siddhant’s claims on his official social media handle. In his post, Gandhi questioned the integrity of the CBSE selection process and demanded a transparent, independent judicial investigation into the matter.

Gandhi’s post also took aim at Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, referencing earlier statements made by the minister regarding the tender process. The Congress leader further directed sharp questions toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking pointedly, “Who are they protecting, and why?”—a remark that has intensified the political temperature around the issue.

Despite the growing uproar, neither CBSE nor the central government has issued a detailed official response to the fresh allegations as of now.

Key Points of Contention

  • The 17-year-old blogger claims CBSE changed selection rules mid-process, favoring COEMPT over TCS.
  • Alleged modifications to the RFP are said to have disadvantaged TCS while benefiting COEMPT.
  • Rahul Gandhi has publicly questioned the silence of the Prime Minister and the Education Minister on the issue.
  • Demands for an independent judicial inquiry are growing, with critics calling for full transparency.

Growing Calls for Judicial Inquiry

The controversy has led to increasing pressure on the government to order a thorough and impartial investigation. Those raising concerns argue that only a judicial probe can establish whether irregularities occurred during the selection process and whether any rules were deliberately bent to favor a particular entity.

Observers note that the involvement of a minor student in exposing potential procedural lapses has added a moral dimension to the debate. The situation has also highlighted broader questions about accountability and transparency in public procurement processes involving educational institutions.

As the matter continues to gain traction on social media and in political circles, all eyes are now on the government’s next move. Whether it chooses to respond with a formal clarification or orders an inquiry remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that the demand for answers is not fading anytime soon.
